26 April 2017 @ 02:02 am
FORM: Sending Crystal
SENDER: Elu Thingol
RECIPIENT: Others with Sending Crystals~
WHAT: Everyone has an opinion; not all of them are well accepted.
WHEN: Early morning!
WHERE: Kirkwall
NOTES: General warnings of him being a gigantic, unapologetic ass.

I can see little difference between them and the Dwarves of Arda. [Someone's tongue is loose (and it likely wasn't caused by alcohol).] How anyone can stand to be in their presence is beyond me. I refuse to turn my back on any of them. It is a wonder we haven't all been slaughtered in our sleep!

[The crystal is suddenly of great interest and Thingol touches it, moving it about between his graceful hands.]

I do not mind losing my crown, my kingdom, my wife, my daughter - [No, clearly he does mind those things. A lot.] But must I spend time in the same land as those who saw to my brutal death?

[Ah. Now it makes sense, doesn't it.]

I admit the experience has made me rather short-sighted. [And to think he and the Dwarves were once on friendly terms.] I caution you against putting any stock in cursed jewels should you find any within our...Kirkwall.

FORM: Crystal
SENDER: Kain
RECIPIENT: Everyone!
WHAT: Late night musings about troubling information
WHEN: Now-ish
WHERE: Wherever the griffons are at the moment (but the post is open to anyone anywhere of course!)
NOTES: Brooding warning always applies

It's a late hour, but... indulge me with your thoughts, if you will. [He can't sleep, which is a frequent occurrence. Thanks, Warden nightmares. Though this time, he's trying a different tactic than usual to beat the insomnia. Talking to the Crystal almost seems like a good idea, so why not?]

Is it worth believing in fate? Is life set in stone, a scripted play by the Maker that we're all simply acting in... or is it more open-ended than that? Could it be possible that even seemingly insignificant actions really can change what's to come? That even just one decision could drastically alter everything else in your life? I've... been wondering about this lately. What might my life had been if I'd become a Templar instead of a Warden, for instance? If my ancestors had settled in Ferelden instead of Orlais? So many possible ways in which it all might have turned out differently...

[The letters that Ser Coupe had delivered are really getting to him. He's spent hours pouring over them, analyzing everything from the words themselves to details such as the way the writing looks, or the paper it's written on. He's spent a lot of time just trying to read things that were scribbled out. The indirect warning from his future self was chilling, and... he thinks there may be a chance to alter it. Maybe. Maybe not. He's still thinking it over, wondering about the action that he could take next.]

If you had a chance to go back and change something about your life, would you?

RECIPIENT: Everyone
WHAT: An observation
WHEN: Current
WHERE: Skyhold

( the voice that comes through the crystals is young, light, high lilting orlesian; educated, but after the fact, someone whose speech is influenced by time spent around the upper-classes rather than someone who is identifiably one of them. the tone is thoughtful; )

There are an awful lot of Dalish, aren't there?

( like, any. )

Are they all one clan?

( gosh, they can probably hear this. )

FORM: Sending crystal
SENDER: Beleth Ashara
RECIPIENT: Everyone
WHAT: Beleth has questions about dragons, for science. You don't want to get in the way of science, do you?
WHEN: Now
WHERE: Everywhere
NOTES: yeah no she definitely has a dragon

[ Beleth's voice sounds rather harried and distracted, and under the sound of her voice, there's another noise that sounds suspiciously like a hissing growl. ]

Ah--Hello, I hope it's alright to ask, but I have a request. I've recently begun trying to study dragons, and there doesn't seem to be much information on them in the library. Which isn't surprising, since dragons have only recently begun to show up in Thedas again, after a prolonged absence.

I was hoping that someone in the Inquisition might have an idea where I can find more information, or might have the information themselves. [ There's a quiet 'ow!' and disgruntled noises before Beleth begins speaking again. ]

...To clarify, I'm not looking for information regarding fighting them. There's plenty of information on that particular subject. I was hoping more for information of a more...mundane variety. Their age cycle, day-to-day lives, eating habits, things like that.

If you know where I might find anything speaking on subjects of that nature, I would appreciate hearing about it. Thank you for listening.

FORM: Sending crystal
SENDER: Freddie, Val, and Jehan (your favorites!)
RECIPIENT: Everyone
WHAT: A Griffon Grievance
WHEN: Now
WHERE: Everywhere
NOTES: Can we say a group of griffons is called a grievance? A grievance of griffons?

Inquisition.

[This is Val. Don’t stop listening, his tone is grave and serious, which means what follows will be equally grave and serious.]

When one thinks of the noblest of creatures, beasts of the air, one must first and always think of griffons. The dragon, she has a certain unspeakable loveliness, a loveliness of her form, in all her savage glory, but if the word to meditate upon is nobility, then it is the griffon that comes first to mind. On this, we can all agree, yes?

FORM: Sending Crystal
SENDER: Kas
RECIPIENT: Everyone
WHAT: More questions
WHEN: Today
WHERE: Skyhold
NOTES: Tiny teen qunari muses about not being tiny any more.

So at what age are you really an adult? I mean, not maturely but like... to other people. You say you 'come of age' and stuff like that but exactly what age is that in Ferelden? Here you can't join the army if you're under seventeen, which is fair. Does that mean you're an adult after seventeen?

I heard some rifter saying you can't drink unless you're eighteen or twenty-one or whatever. Rivain doesn't have a rule like that. I had wine when I was a kid, so I don't see the point of restricting it.

...but, like... at what age are you an adult? How old do you gotta be to marry someone without it being weird?

[Pause.]

Not that I'm marrying anyone!

Taking suggestions for names to give to a dracolisk.
Nothing inappropriate, please.

[That's it that's the notice.]

FORM: Crystal
SENDER: Alistair
RECIPIENT: Everybody
WHAT: More important questions.
WHEN: Todayish
WHERE: A crystal near YOU!
NOTES: Nah.

Politics aside - is that possible? Can we do that? I have faith in you, all of you -

[ Getting off topic there Alistair. ]

Politics aside, [ Alistair's voice continues, with scolding emphasis aimed at himself, ] who wears skirts better, do you think? Mages or Templars?

[ xoxo ]

FORM: Sending crystal
SENDER: Kas
RECIPIENT: Everyone
WHAT: A young man's view on battle
WHEN: Now
WHERE: Skyhold

It's been a little over a year since I got here. I guess... that makes it a little over a year since all this shit happened and the Herald died and everything went to shit.

I know we've been closing rifts and killing red templars and Vena-whatchamacallit, but when are we gonna go fight the cause of all this? That darkspawn guy. Corypheus.

Everything just seems to be betting worse, after all. What if something happens that cannot be reversed just because we're busy throwing balls and sucking up to nobles?

17 December 2016 @ 03:55 pm
FORM: Sending Crystal
SENDER: Rydia
RECIPIENT: Everyone
WHAT: Looking for DIY teachers
WHEN: At some point during Haring
WHERE: Skyhold
NOTES: Content warnings, OOC notes, links to other relevant posts, etc.

Greetings, everyone! I'm Rydia of Mist, you've probably seen me around skyhold, and since the crystal seems the best way to reach for other people I decided to give it a try. My apologies if I'm bothering you but...  would anyone be interested in teaching me how to sew?  This world seriously lacks brightly colored and pratical clothes so I'd like to create things for myself... I just lack any kind of experience.

I'm aware sewing is considered a woman's ABC in many realms but I admit I never had the necessity to learn... and I barely know how to patch a hole in my shirt to keep it together if I don't have anything else.

Oh, also... I could use cooking lessons as well. [There is a pause and when she starts talking again she's speaking faster and in a lower tone of voice] And I may be interested in learning more about healing magic as well but I'm not sure if we rifter can learn it or if I can still learn any kind of healing spell...
