It's been a little over a year since I got here. I guess... that makes it a little over a year since all this shit happened and the Herald died and everything went to shit.

I know we've been closing rifts and killing red templars and Vena-whatchamacallit, but when are we gonna go fight the cause of all this? That darkspawn guy. Corypheus.

Everything just seems to be betting worse, after all. What if something happens that cannot be reversed just because we're busy throwing balls and sucking up to nobles?

I hear you. Lena took off because she was getting restless and I have no plans to do the same, but I can't blame her either. Nobles and their crap has its place, but so does battle.

People are dying out there, and we have a good army now.

A lot more people are going to die before this is over. There's no escaping that, but taking action could cut down on those numbers. Or it could make it a lot worse. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. But if we're going to be damned I'd rather go fighting than sitting on my ass.

From my admittedly imperfect understanding, Corypheus hasn't made it easy to find him. He must possess more resources than we realize, to elude us for so long.

He's a giant guy with an archdemon! How hard can it be?

There are many lost and forgotten areas of Thedas; that he would know of many might be a reason for his skill in remaining hidden. We must do better in seeking them.

Instead of attending to dances and such we could, you know, search for him.

I hear you, Kas, but no one wants to go into a fight without being fully prepared.

We're fighting red templars and Venatori because we're hoping we can find out more about his plans, or how to fight his army when we actually get to it. As much as I don't like sucking up to nobles, it helps with getting troops and funding.

That's not to mention we still don't know how to fight against that dragon he has. Or Corypheus himself. He's powerful and we don't know by how much, not to mention we have no idea where he is.

There's also the part of making sure the Rifters are prepared. It takes a group of them to close a rift, and some of them are still learning their magic.

We shouldn't have to get funding and shit. Everyone should just show up and fight, this is serious after all! Who cares about some duke's shoes or whatever when there was a fucking hole in the sky?

I get the not knowing how to fight him, though. But we have a ton of mages here and a lot of people that can kick ass in all kinds of ways. We've got Wardens and people who were there to kill the Blight's Archdemon. They have to have ideas.

The rifters, though...

Yes, a duke's shoes shouldn't matter, but considering we're not working with the Chantry we have to politically work towards getting the countries interested in joining us. After all they have their own armies, we need to prove it's beneficial to join us.

Plus we also have large amounts of apostates and templars who aren't under the Chantry working here. That's a lot to consider.

I think if this was a Blight things would be easier, but since it isn't... the Western Approach did not go very well for the Wardens. There's a lot we are dealing with that is completely new. And Corypheus has a lot of mages himself, not to mention red templars, some of which are stronger then a group of our own men.

[Sam sighs, sounding frustrated. Not with Kas, but just the whole situation.]

I wish things could be that simple.

Agreed. I've always hated playing the Game. Give me a battlefield over a ballroom any day.

We ought to put more of our focus into finding him and resolving all of these problems with the rifts. These things are interconnected, after all.

Too bad it all seems easier said than done. I mean, I don't think it's impossible, but we have a lot of work cut out for us...

The working theory is that we need more for this fight. More army, more allies, more preparation, more intelligence. Considering reports of what happened at Haven, I think the theory may be right.

What happens if we rush into the fight far too soon, lose our army and resources, and weaken ourselves alone?

Didn't the Hero of Ferelden stop the Blight and kill the Archdemon with like... a handful of people and a really small army?

We can't just say 'more' all the time. If there's resources for politics, balls and looking at elf stuff, why aren't we using it to help people instead?
