[ For a long several moments, silence broadcasts over the crystal, Iorveth having just activated it after reading the announcement on negotiations results posted, lost for words. When they do come, it's like they're being spoken through a snarl. ]
You left to end the blood leashing.
Not push it off on the next lesser group.
[ there is a deafening thud that sounds before Iorveth's voice goes out, and anyone physically standing by the Gallows announcement board will have just witnessed Iorveth pull a dagger (with at least a foot worth of blade on it) free, and slam it through the notice and into the board, metal and splinters jutting out the opposite side, before walking away.
He mad. (And he'll come fix the board later, leave him alone) ]
crystal.
❰ said incredibly seriously, with sounds of motion already in the background. she's not going to have this conversation over crystal, not with what she wants from iorveth. ❱

But Vandelin had sent word on ahead.
Quietly,]
It wasn't their aim to.

[ this is painfully familiar to another set of negotiations he'd lived through. too much to let him see with anything but rage and paranoia now. ]
And despite our many, many diplomatically skilled individuals, no argument was made well enough to move it from the table.

( I mean, she's not miserable about it, but she isn't happy.
She stands near the announcement board, peeling an orange so that the peel hangs in a large spiral. A woman in an elaborate dress, low key by her standards, but fine quality silk in bright colours, and so on. )

Clearly not hard enough. Do I seem concerned with how happy anyone else is about this? [ beyond the Rifters. He remembers Marisol from the mission, and she'd been kind and amiable enough then. But Iorveth's in an entirely different mindset now. ]
And if we refuse this? Will they chain us up and force us to manage their demons still? See if a Rifter can be made Tranquil?

Fuck all of them if they think anyone should have a phylactery forced on them, rifter or native. I'll fight anyone who tries to force that shit.

[ Iorveth snarls, words spat out. Chantry, even. Since when does a foreign religion have say over what's done with him? Oh, right, since humanity came into existence. ]
They'll take my blood off my fucking corpse.

[His voice is serious, stern.]
And the religious forces benefit from dividing us. This is not on the mages, and the Rifters are not a lesser group. You are angry, rightfully so, but we want an end to phylacteries, not a spreading of them.
[private crystal]
[ he's steeped himself in carnage and war for a century against the kind of imperialism this sort of law comes from. attempting to reason with him on it now is not likely to be successful. ]
Nor are the mages here my kin. Negotiations are glorified trades, and for one thing to be gained, another must be sacrificed. Tell me with certainty the mages didn't give our freedom for theirs. [ because that exact. fucking. thing. has happened to him before. ]
[private crystal]
crystal;
I certainly wake up every morning and think about how to give the people who've held my leash power over more people.

Negotiations are trades, one thing for the other, so tell me, who put Rifters on the trading table if the Chantry and Templars weren't the ones vying for release? And who had the right to speak for us on it?

[He didn't know what they were, only that mages carried them.]
What does it have to do with us?

[ Iorveth explains as he walks, headed in the direction of the division leaders offices. ]
In the event that a mage goes rogue, or escapes, they're used to track them down and drag them back to their cages.
[ When Iorveth first arrived here, he'd idly wondered at what would be done if Rifters simply told the Inquisition 'no' when they were asked to help. Now he knows. ]

[Adasse's tone is measured, and calm.]
How fast do you need to get out of the city? And how many Rifers are you going to take with you?
[Because HAH like he is going to let his new rebellion buddy get leashed by Templars.]
If you got worries about the shard - we can just hide you in the alienage.
Re: Crystal - Private
[ there's finally in his tone, though it's a shift in his opinion since their last talk. It isn't the city he wishes to stay for, it's the battle that may need to be fought. ]
I appreciate the offer, though, my friend. Fortunately, it's only a proposal at this point.
[ they aren't quite part the point of no return yet. ]
There's still much that can be done for it. The Templars may regret giving is cause to unite.

[ Her voice is low, tense, almost dangerous. ]
I will not have them taking anything from anyone. [ But, quieter: ] Are you well, Iorveth?

[ they couldn't stray from the Inquisition for long, before. Not without the shards clustered, which is it's only side of the equation, but not one to start discussing in seriousness yet. ]
They won't. Many of us won't have it, and the result they're hoping for won't be worth the fall out. [ well, that's the logic of it, anyway. it depends entirely on how stupid the chantry and templars want to be about it. but that they don't need to discuss. not yet. ] I'm well. Thranduil's put me in time out, so I'm ransacking his office for information.
[ : D because he's a good friend like that. ]
