idk my bff minor vandalism

FORM: Crystal
SENDER: Iorveth
RECIPIENT: All erry1
WHAT: Reacting to this, specifically the part about Rifter phylactaries.
WHEN: Right meow.
WHERE: Kirkwall, the Gallows announcement board
NOTES: Rudeness and vandalism. Open to crystal chatting and action!! Though he'll be storming off pretty fast after this.

[ For a long several moments, silence broadcasts over the crystal, Iorveth having just activated it after reading the announcement on negotiations results posted, lost for words. When they do come, it's like they're being spoken through a snarl. ]

You left to end the blood leashing.

Not push it off on the next lesser group.

[ there is a deafening thud that sounds before Iorveth's voice goes out, and anyone physically standing by the Gallows announcement board will have just witnessed Iorveth pull a dagger (with at least a foot worth of blade on it) free, and slam it through the notice and into the board, metal and splinters jutting out the opposite side, before walking away.

He mad. (And he'll come fix the board later, leave him alone) ]

[Just as snarly and full of anger--]

Fuck all of them if they think anyone should have a phylactery forced on them, rifter or native. I'll fight anyone who tries to force that shit.

I don't blame you one fucking bit and any mage with brains still left in their heads wouldn't, either. They'll have to get through me to take Araceli's blood, and good fucking luck with that.

I'm more blaming the Chantry and the templars; bet you anything they were behind the damned proposal, probably had it in mind for months. If they can't control mages, they have to control someone, it's their damned way. But I'll knock sense into whoever needs it, because letting others' rights be chipped away isn't any way to keep our own. And any mage who believes that shit is no kin of mine.

Don't get into fights, not in the streets, not on the sending crystals either.

[In her most polite and measured voice usually reserved for office hours babe please.]

I will not let them force that on you, Araceli. Not ever.

[She'd wildly hated the idea when it was just a mage issue, but for Araceli and all the other rifters she knows? No.]

Making a scene doesn't help anyone's cause; they'll be listening. I'd be listening. This is a possibility. Right now, rifters as a collective thing is what annoys me more.

[Because that's not what she is and it's dangerous.]
gatheringstorm: (worried)

[Heavy sigh, the sort that she gives when Araceli is right and she doesn't want her to be because yelling about it is an easier coping method.]

That pisses me the fuck off, too, but I'm not surprised. They lump all mages together, even though we have wildly different practices, why not do the same with people from other worlds? Upsetting the few people who help us seal rifts is a boneheaded move, and the Inquisition leadership better fucking realize that.

You were helping with Diplomacy; think you can get anyone to listen?

Closing rifts isn't enough. This...this is about our place in the world, about actually living here, having a stake, being involved in so much more than the bare minimum because that's all that closing rifts is: the bare minimum. It's the very least any of us are able to do. They don't have to realise anything.

Something like this? It's always been a possibility. Maybe a lot of people are new but some should remember when Seeker Pentaghast asked us what our stance was back in Skyhold. If we were Inquisition. Eyes shouldn't need to be opened to where we are and that we need to make ourselves part of this world instead of only parts of it, or expecting it to be as we want it to be. As for diplomacy, we don't have a leader now so I don't know what there is to be done there.

That position will be filled sooner or later, but I don't like to think of what could happen in the meantime. Some rifters have been here long enough to remember, it's true, but we've had an influx of people without that experience, who can barely comprehend how different Thedas is from their own world or that we can't just send them home. It might be a while before they come to accept making themselves a part of this world, as you say, and in the meantime things could get ugly. Well, uglier.

...where are you now?

Thranduil is one I'd give the benefit of the doubt to; he's a calming voice, he's been here a long time. There are things you have to deal with. Things you have to just swallow. Maybe my own life taught me those lessons anyway but they're making rods for their own backs right now and if you want to help them? Point it out. Get them to listen. I don't know what good I'll do when I don't call myself the same thing.

I'm in the Gallows, trying to get some work done before this.

[Her tone softens.] Your perspective is still an important one, kadan. You might reach more than you think, but I'll...try to remind them -and myself- that nothing is set in stone yet. But if it does come to pass, I won't be shy about my opinion on that, either. ['Over my rotting corpse' is how she feels about her own blood being drawn, and her friends -and love- deserve no less.]

I won't get in the way of that, but just say the word and I'll have the good wine ready for afterward.

Whatever choice I make, it's going to be my choice for me. For what I can live with. I can't promise I'll explain it.

[If push comes to shove she would rather still make that choice herself, try to have some semblance of control over it. Both are a message, one is just a slightly better message and one where people can see she's not being forced.]

I might be home late? [Apologetic and soft as if that'll change that she's going to bury herself in work.]. Maybe leave it out on the table.

You do what's best for you, kadan, and you'll always have my support. [She sighs, wishing she could do more but not truly resenting Araceli's coping method.]

Consider it done. If I'm up, you're welcome to a backrub as well.
