FORM: Crystals
SENDER: Petrana de Cedoux
RECIPIENT: All of you.
NOTES: A true war table quest in the sense that it's mostly paperwork, Petrana isn't letting 90% of you weirdos in front of her fancy Hightown connections to embarrass her.

Good afternoon, Riftwatch; for those not acquainted with me, I am Madame de Cedoux.

( the accent is very nearly orlesian; close enough that one from orlais who was not themselves well traveled might wonder if they simply haven't heard this regional accent before. most people, though, are probably perfectly aware of who she is. )

I have, potentially, an opportunity that may be of interest to some of you—I merely wish to survey, before I move ahead with anything. I have been having certain items within my possession valued, for prospective sale, and in the event that there are those of you here who possess rifted items—or items of similarly unique status—that you do not wish to keep, a small auction in Hightown might be arranged.

Discreetly, and with items that have been vetted for their appropriateness to surrender into civilian hands. It would be for those surrendering such items to declare if they preferred the proceeds of the sale to go to their own purse or Riftwatch's funds, and these are arrangements that I would further oversee.

Please feel free to inquire with me further. Thank you.

Riftwatch!

If one were to be planning to be entering into a marriage, and as a gift to one's fiancée, one was planning to purchase a large and well-trained dog, to guard and otherwise safewatch one's fiancée's large property or estate, which type of dog would be best for such a task?

Of course the mabari is the obvious choice. Yet so Ferelden! The answer to this question will therefore be: not a mabari.

RECIPIENT: Everyone.
NOTES: Nah.

I'm not unaware of all the more pressing issues our company is dealing with at the moment, however, I have received a lovely handwritten note from Lady Baruchia requesting our assistance with yet another matter.

It seems she hopes to feature a rift theme at her annual spring gathering next month, and hopes for some guidance. Consultation was specifically requested to avoid framing the theme in the wrong light. As we are ever in need of funds, I suppose this would be an opportunity for us to showcase one aspect of our hard work and take advantage of the attention being paid to the cause.

She also assured me that a few invitations will be sent along to us in gratitude for our advice, which seems to be an equally valuable opportunity to shore up some support among our neighbors in Hightown.

I don't suppose we have anyone among our number eager to weigh in on how best to construct an imitation rift in a garden setting?

SENDER: Matthias, on behalf of team rescue
RECIPIENT: everyone. except the dead people :,(
NOTES: info here to help you mourn accordingly. this is forward dated to 5.24 so we can make the most of this tragedy.

This is Matthias. I'm with the team that went after the missing party. They were on an assignment, looking into these elven ruins at Baron Deshaies' estate, and they--

They're dead. [He doesn't sound sad, precisely. It's the calm of someone that's gotten used to this.] We confirmed it with an Inquisition contact. Their capture from Deshaies' was purposeful but their deaths, they were-- The whole thing was the work of these mercenaries. They had a Tevinter mage with them, he was there on an assignment of his own. Somewhere on the way back, our party tried an escape. That mage, he's dead now as well, from their attempt. So they must've come close. Not that it matters now. Sometimes it's a comfort, is all.

We've made our report to the Division Heads and we're coming back, to the Gallows. We've got some of their things, that were recovered. The bodies were burned. But we thought everyone ought to know, now. Instead of waiting.

[That's the script. Matthias hesitates, and in a break from what he'd prepared to say--speaking now with more conviction, speaking in half a rush, as if he might regret what he's going to say and so has to get it all out--]

Their names were Merrill, Kitty, Anders, Sorrell, Teren, Wysteria, Bastien, Gwenaëlle [a name he's practiced saying; he stumbles on just a little], Ilias, Kain, Darras, Iorveth, John Silver, Loki, Sidony, and Magni. Saying their names, it's important. There's nothing we can do to change it or bring them back, but--they ought not to be forgotten.

FORM: Crystal
SENDER: Thranduil
RECIPIENT: All characters on the Galicia and the Walrus.
WHAT: DONT BE THAT BITCH.
WHEN: During the boat flight from Minrathous.
WHERE: Boats, Ocean.
NOTES: oooh god I’m on my phone don’t make me link to thing.

Those on the Galicia saw it first hand, but to those on the Walrus, the Venatori abroad the warship pursuing us have made us an offer of safe passage in exchange for the currently incapacitated Archon Radonis, who is aboard.

I would hope [ thranduil’s voice low and dangerous. ] that no one need reminding that the Venatori are liars and their promises worth nothing.

[ but there’s one in every batch who might think first of saving their own skin, and that’s why thranduil is hanging out with the (unconscious) radonis and his friend, a knife. ]

And I would think that we would far prefer to strike fear into the hearts of the Venatori after the ordeal we were put through in Minrathous, with some of our comrades still missing and presumed captured, rather than simper and beg their mercy.

FORM: Crystal!
SENDER: Gwenaëlle Baudin.
RECIPIENT: Anyone with a crystal.
WHAT: Summary of content.
WHEN: Currentish.
WHERE: She's in Halamshiral; wherever you all are.
NOTES: Optional side quest. Also I know the difference between Kirkwall and Halamshiral and didn't edit her misspeaking a day later. You don't know.

This is Gwenaëlle Baudin. I need to make a brief trip from Halamshiral to an estate in the Dales, and given what happened the last time I took that road—

( understandably tersely, for those who do know what it was that happened, )

—I would prefer to do it with several able warriors. I've some other contacts I can reach out to closer to hand if no one is available, but I'm not in a great rush to do it, so if anyone is bored of the unrest in Kirkwall and would like to make a bit of coin on the side while touring some different, exciting unrest in what I assume will be remembered as the last days of Orlais before it was overrun by Corypheus, do be in touch.

Do not bother responding if you can't bring yourself to refrain from embarrassing the Inquisition in the High Quarter.

SENDER: Dame Geneviève Lucienne De La Fontaine
RECIPIENT: all you bitches
WHAT: bored orlesian
WHEN: now
WHERE: kirkwall
NOTES: orlesian being orlesian

Inquisition.

This city of Kirkwall, I am finding it lacking. Of course I have been occupied getting affairs in order, but is there nothing to be done of entertainment? One can only watch the same two dirt-covered rodents squabble so many times before one loses interest.

So I ask, what have people been doing for fun since coming to this [there's a pause like she's trying really hard to come up with the right adjective to describe Kirkwall and ultimately decides better of any of the ones that come to mind] ...place.

And by all means, if you enjoy watching the squabbling rodents, feel free to include that, everyone has different definitions of fun, of course.

FORM: Crystals.
SENDER: Petrana de Cedoux.
RECIPIENT: All y'all.
WHAT: A request, and an offer.
WHEN: Current.
WHERE: Kirkwall; wherever people are that have crystals.
NOTES: Warnings TBA if necessary.

( the sound of a woman clearing her throat; two soft, dull thuds. she may have tapped the crystal. then, a voice unlikely to be familiar to many yet, quiet and steady and bearing some resemblance to the finer orlesians in the inquisition's company; )

Excuse me. I would like to know if it would be possible for me to have or - also or to borrow any books which are not important to you. I am not concerned very greatly with their content - I would like a recipe book, if this is possible, but mostly I would like words written in the common language of the Inquisition.

I would further be very grateful if it is possible for someone to make time to assist me in learning to read these books. ( it's a little wry, rueful in a quiet way. ) I am happy to trade work for your time - I can clean and mend as well as any, and I know also simple remedies and means to make the hearth more pleasant.

( she does not have the voice of a woman who sounds as if she does a lot of cleaning and mending. )

My name is Madame de Cedoux, and I reside now within the Gallows. I am very grateful to the Inquisition and only wish to make myself useful.

WHAT: Someone is making an entrance
WHEN: Somewhat after the Winter Palace ... events
WHERE: Skyhold
NOTES: Sorry he's so ... him. No warnings for now, though.

Good day, people of the Inquisition. I understand it's acceptable etiquette to pose general questions through this means. Mine is this: What resources, in your opinion, does the Inquisition most need at present?

Also, Gwenaëlle, if you are listening, please let me know where you are. I'm too old to go wandering up and down staircases at random.
