FORM: Crystal
SENDER: Jude
RECIPIENT: All y'all
NOTES: The first Sunday after New Rifters got dumped in LARPville.
[Jude's voice is low and entirely too damn cheery. Fucker's a morning person.]
Announcement's mostly for the new folks, but for the old folks too: it's pancake Sunday. If you can drag your ass down to the kitchens before noon I will get you a plate. If you come after that, you roll the dice.
This week I'm making home fries. Rifter delicacy. If you have a request, don't be shy about it.
There's a few of you newbies floating around and I know at least some of you from Orientation, so I'll make it easy: if you're new to the Gallows, this invite is especially for you. Come meet some people.
[ooc; Jude is the acting personnel officer, and the touchstone person for new arrivals, especially Rifters. Feel free to say they've met.]

Tea too, if you want it, but steer clear of Gela's if you're a beginner.

[Super Casual.
It is actually on the way, though.]

[ Not a tone of inquisition, but light confirmation; a question he thinks he already knows the answer to. ]
no subject
An emphatic yes to both. Don't stop adding until it's sludge.

Alright, thanks for the warning. I thought it'd be something different, like adding some kind of... [ The finger wiggles are practically visible. ] Thedosian tincture or. Huh, well. No, I guess that's silly. What was your name again?
[ He realizes, now, that this voice is the same voice belonging to the individual who casually (and blessedly) bestowed upon him the basics of What Is Up re: arrival. ]

It's Jude. [Warmly- Jace went through a lot on arrival; it's traumatic as anything to arrive here, and he doesn't expect him to remember everything. Jude's been through the headtrip.]
Now what would be silly?
no subject
Oh, um. Just assuming... [ A dismissive hand gesture because Jayce's language commonly includes physical action. ] Ah, nevermind. I'll be down there soon.
[ Some fumbling, silencing the blue magical crystal that isn't the one he sorely misses, and then, perhaps ten minutes or so later, Jayce enters the kitchen area, head held high and curious. Upon making eye contact with Jude's distantly recognizable form, he nods in greeting, his lopsided smile genuine. ]
Hey. Smells good, and familiar.
[ Heavenly, actually. A piece of home he hadn't put much stock in until he no longer had it, but anyway. He wears the clothes with which he'd arrived sans the jacket, vest and tie, but sports quite a bit of stubble and finger-combed hair. ]

Several are well depleted, a stack of dirty dishes in the basin nearby.]
Damn crazy what a lot of worlds have in common. Get yourself a plate, take what you like.
[On the counter are an assortment of toppings. It's by no means professional, most of them out of plain jars with spoons, identifiable mostly by scent and look rather than labeling. Jam, honey, maple syrup. One big bowl of whipped cream. Fresh-cut strawberries, well depleted. Probably by Jude himself, judging by the stickiness of his fingertips.]
How're the Gallows treating you?
no subject
[ Having acquired two (!) plates, he reaches over the counter, hesitates, then plucks the spoon out of the jar that looks very much akin to honey. Leaning in, a sniff test suggests the suspicion well-founded. ]
They're, um -- actually quite welcoming. [ A little smile as he embellishes a moderate volume of honey and whipped cream over the set of cakes intended for himself. ] For the most part. I wasn't sure what to expect, really, with a war going on, but... [ He shrugs, good-natured. ] I do miss plumbing.
