This week I'm making home fries. Rifter delicacy. If you have a request, don't be shy about it.

There's a few of you newbies floating around and I know at least some of you from Orientation, so I'll make it easy: if you're new to the Gallows, this invite is especially for you. Come meet some people.

Wouldn't surprise me if there's a real science behind it. From what I hear lots of Rifters come from the same worlds.

Yes, there must be something to it... some explanation for why some worlds yield multiple arrivals and others don't, timing, location, and so on. Measurable patterns we have yet to detect. Such a study might even lead to accurate predictions. But,

without the resources to invest in deeper analysis, the ARRIVED system may be as far as we get for the foreseeable future.

The ARRIVED system has saved lives. Wouldn't want to think about what would happen to the new folks who didn't get scooped up by us.

Who do you petition for funding around here?

That would be the Provost... whose expertise is wasted on such administrative obligations, to be frank. But someone has to do it.

Actually, I believe Ms. Niehaus is assisting him now. Part time, [to clarify.] Relegating her to a supportive role would likewise be an egregious misuse of her skills... so you see the difficulty here.
