Satinalia Fool Voting

FORM: Crystal
SENDER: Baroness Frédérique Durfort-Lacapalette, Brother Jehan Mercier, and Valentine Nicasius Maxence Mérovée Olivier de Foncé
RECIPIENT: Everyone
WHAT: Deciding on a Satinalia Fool
WHEN: Now
WHERE: Everywhere
NOTES:These threads are made for jacking, and that's just what they'll do. One of these days these threads are gonna yeah okay never mind.

Inquisition! We have for you a list of nominees for your Satinalia Fools. We say Fools, plural, because we have many fine nominees and two crowns - we think they may be crowns. We removed them from the heads of statues in some temple or another. Perhaps they were symbols of shame rather than nobility? None of us is qualified to say, but the statues were very small compared to some others, and - [ an abrupt end to the rambling ] - we will assume they are close enough to crowns to crown Fools. Valentine has been testing them and looks very Foolish.

Two Fools, then. If they cannot cooperate we will give each one half of the courtyard during the festivities and they may, éventuellement, stage a battle between their kingdoms.

We have placed a box outside the tavern where you can place the name of the nominee you wish to support. Please only choose once. The Maker does not endorse cheating. If you do not believe in the Maker then whatever you do believe in likely does not endorse cheating, either, though, again, none of us is qualified to say. If you believe in a god that does endorse cheating, please find it in your own heart to practice restraint.

If you have any questions we are happy to answer them, of course! But first Freddie will read for you our list of nominees:

[ What follows are some remarks, prepared by all three of Our Heroes together but read in Freddie's sweet and perfect voice, concerning Adelaide, Alistair, Bruce, Iskandar, Raylan, Val, and Yvgni. ]

ooc | Nominee discussion is separated into comments below so people can talk about nominations in a semi-organized way. You can also post new comments though! If your character has questions or a write-in ballot option or something. In the meantime, VOTE HERE.

NOMINEE: ADELAIDE LEBLANC

A bit intimidating, she may take some of the joy from festivities. Her nominator suggests she might enjoy giving orders. Perhaps a bit too much, we would add - and that she is Orlesian indicates she will wear the title with dignity and graciousness, which is lovely but not at all what one desires in a Fool. We cannot be confident she would not order the feast to stop and return us all to work. We cannot be confident that the nobility and elegance of her presence, once enhanced by a crown, would not shame us all into being demure and restrained in our celebrations.

We cannot be confident that she would not be the most Foolish of all possible Fools, either, but we advise caution all the same.

NOMINEE: ALISTAIR

[personal profile] aventuriere 2016-10-25 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
As a relatively famous hero of some noteworthiness, do we dare to profane his name with the title of Fool? Do we dare to stoop his heroic brow with a crown? Do we dare?

We do.

But it is something to think about. And there is a handsomeness to him that would not lend itself well to a crown. The jaw, too broad. The hair, too - hairy. Everything at once so noble and yet, so bland. Foolish indeed! And likely smells of dog.

NOMINEE: BRUCE

[personal profile] aventuriere 2016-10-25 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
Bruce was a noble surgeon
of the Inquisition
quiet, unassuming,
never an imposition.
If your ribs had started cracking
or your innards had come loose,
you could do no better
than to go and ask for Bruce.

BUT...

Turns out our Bruce was hiding
a most intriguing secret.
(Now everyone here knows it
but maybe we'll all keep it.)
Like half the blighted children
born into the Dragon Age,
our quiet, gentle surgeon
has turned out to be a mage.

So mes amies, I ask you
is anything more Foolish
than to join the Inquisition
but conceal a nature dual-ish.
I know this nomination
will make poor old Bruce frown
but our sweet sneaky surgeon
should surely wear your crown.

NOMINEE: ISKANDAR

Has there ever been a Rifter crowned? No! This alone presents a temptation. How progressive we would be, to crown this man! And what new traditions could be introduced to us? The prospect is exciting. We are breathless. What’s more, he is a man quite made of muscles. This too, leaves us breathless. Less breathless are we over the thought that he does not know how Satinalia is celebrated, and yet this element of chaos is titillating, too, and so, we are breathless again after all.

NOMINEE: RAYLAN GIBBS

He has been observed as scrawny, but handsome. A quiet man, which suggests that his reign would be equally quiet, or a veritable orgy - for it is, as Peasant Richard says, always the quiet ones, and so we must put nothing by him. Let us further posit that a mage, when given the crown, will prove to have tricks up his handsome sleeves. [ aside: ] (Which of you is so taken with his handsomeness?) Can sleeves even be handsome on one so scrawny? On anyone? Questions we all must answer for ourselves.

NOMINEE: VAL DE FONCÉ

[personal profile] aventuriere 2016-10-25 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
Our own Valentine - whom we did not nominate, no, before anyone suggests something untoward may be happening here. We would never. And we will not now expound overmuch on his qualities, so as to avoid swaying anyone unfairly. However we can confidently say that he would not be a disappointment to anyone in any regard, would not wear the title with any dignity whatsoever, and looks magnificent in crowns, but not too magnificent. The proper degree of magnificence for a Fool.

NOMINEE: YNGVI

[personal profile] aventuriere 2016-10-25 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
We've been told that "Yngvi" is the name of the pile of matted hair wandering around Skyhold. We are not sure if piles of matted hair can fulfill the requirements of the position, but we are willing to give this one the opportunity to prove itself, and so have not disqualified it from participation.

Definitely smells of dog.

Enjoys being buttered. What in the Maker's name does that mean? Is this a euphemism? Val? Stop looking at yourself in the crown in the mirror and answer--. Oh, nevermind. Vote with your consciences.

Are these our only options?
sistertohermen: (what is this)

[personal profile] sistertohermen 2016-10-25 01:07 pm (UTC)(link)
And...why is it that these people are thought to be foolish? We are giving them crowns for acting like fools? That's not usually something to celebrate...
