Hello Wardens and... [ assassins and bards and blood mages? ] ...friends. This is Alistair; I'm in Halamshiral; there's a market that hasn't been burned down yet. Does anyone need anything?

Keeper Marethari had been married, once -- when she was the First, she was married to her Keeper's Second. The Keeper and his Second were killed when my clan was in the Frostbacks, and Marethari brought the clan to the lowlands and became the Keeper herself.

[ It still hurts to talk about Marethari, her clan, but this is more of a soft sting. This was history even when her clan was alive. ]

The Dalish want mages, and since the Keeper is always a mage, it makes sense for them to marry -- or to have children, at any rate.

So why didn't you think you'd be proposed to if the Dalish want more mage children?

I was always an outsider with my clan, since I was training to be the First and they- weren't. I thought Marethari would pick someone for me, actually -- maybe from my clan, maybe from another one. Maybe someone who was good at healing.

It just- seemed like the practical thing, I suppose. I certainly wasn't going to find anyone by myself.

I didn't have time to spend with them, mostly. Just the Keeper.

Anything could happen to anyone, at any time. It's a dangerous world. [ But this is supposed to be helpful. ] So...you shouldn't focus on the negative things that could happen, or it'll just overwhelm you.

It is- a lot to think about, isn't it? I suppose I'm better when someone helps me not think about it, once I start. I don't usually start.
