SUBJECT: WAR TABLE ASSIGNMENT: BURN BOOK PT 2
PARTICIPANTS: Loki & Abby
CLASSIFICATION: Public
DATE FILED: August 30
STATUS: Complete
SUMMARY: Loki and Abby were tasked with painting the Chantry sun symbol on the exterior of the trademaster's office, the main city square, and the stone arc marking the entryway to the market. Mission accomplished, with the help of some street kids.

REPORT:
Abby and I procured several gallons of yellow and gold paint with which to paint the Chantry's symbol on the appointed locations. Abby was able to incline some children to help us with the matter of the painting, and the distracting of the guard, the trademaster, and assorted others. We left the paint with them, with instructions to paint the Chantry sun wherever else they pleased.

~Loki

Had a couple stumbles out of the gate but once we got going everything ran smoothly almost the entire time. Abandoned the project (gifted the rest of the paint to the kids) after a near miss with an official. Told the kids to paint suns but they’ll probably only do that until they get bored, so take that with a grain of salt. Nice bunch, though. They didn’t ask for much compensation.

NEXT STEPS: Clearly this means people in Antiva are talking about the Exalted March, yes? Perhaps someone should look into that.

SUBJECT: Book Burn Pt 2: circulating propaganda
PARTICIPANTS: Loxley
CLASSIFICATION: Public
DATE FILED: August 31
STATUS: Complete
SUMMARY: At John Silver's direction, Loxley secretly dispersed anti-Tevinter pamphlets into newly arrived Antivan cargo.

REPORT:

I am pleased to Report that my allocated Pamphlets of Anti-Imperium Sentiment were distributed into the newly arrived cargo of two warehouses. It is my conviction & belief that my presence was not detected. The rotation of guardsmen included employees of the Trades office that did not take their job very serously at all.

With further monitoring, I noted that cargo was distributed Without delay wherein surely the pamphlets will be dispersed amongst the merchants of Antiva City, and so this mission was a Success.

NEXT STEPS: Monitoring the situtation in Antiva as far as public sentiment goes. Loxley volunteers as tribute.

SUBJECT: Burn Book pt.2 (Chantry Relations)
PARTICIPANTS: Fitcher
CLASSIFICATION: Public
DATE FILED: August
STATUS: Complete
SUMMARY: As part of the effort to change the hearts and minds of the Antivan public, Fitcher hid anti-Tevinter literature in the prayer books of the Antivan City chantry.

REPORT:
Mssr. Silver,

I'm most pleased to report that the effort to add a (very brief, but rather controversial if I do say so myself) verse to the Chant has been quite successful. I identified a Sister sympathetic to our cause in the city who was gracious enough to assist me with the work of hiding away your little pamphlets in the prayer books of the Antiva City chantry.

I'm afraid the helpful young lady in question is quite shy and I wasn't able to lever out her name. However, should yourself or Riftwatch require her assistance in the future I would be most happy to return to Antiva in order to re-establish contact. Perhaps for a week or two in the dead of winter when Kirkwall's weather is most miserable and Antiva is so lovely and temperate by comparison?

Cheers,
-SF.

NEXT STEPS: Surely a little rabble rousing is in Antiva's future.

SUBJECT: Burn Book Pt 2 (Stuffing Gazettes)
PARTICIPANTS: Mado & Bastien
CLASSIFICATION: Public
DATE FILED: August 30
STATUS: Complete
SUMMARY: As part of John Silver's broad initiative to shift public opinion in Antiva, Bastien and Mado stuffed copies of a local gazette with anti-Corypheus materials.

REPORT:
M. Silver,

Six hundred copies of La Cronaca are circulating through Antiva City with your materials. Some of them have your materials, at least. Before we left the city I saw three lying on the street where people had let them fall out of their papers. But then one of the three was picked up and read with great intent by someone passing by! So perhaps that is a good sign rather than a bad one.

I brought you a copy of the gazette. It has accounts of three different duels involving Prince Ramires. He sounds charming.

Did you know that Amador can turn into a bird?

Bastien
NEXT STEPS: Keep fanning that flame.

Ça va?

SUBJECT: Been and Drawn
PARTICIPANTS: Marcoulf, Leander, Bastien, Vanadi and Lexie
CLASSIFICATION: Public
DATE FILED: Firstfall
STATUS: Complete
SUMMARY: In an effort to soften potential past insults and repair/strengthen Riftwatch's relationship with the Antivan Merchant Prince, Bonaiuto Cellini, a number of Riftwatch agents were dispatched to an art show in Wycome featuring his work.

REPORT: Written in a hand which doesn't match Marcoulf's previous reports, or indeed his own (for he has none):
In accordance with their (MM. B. Royan, de Ricart, and de Vadarta, Enchanter Leander, and Lady Asgard) orders, agents of Riftwatch attended the Wycome gallery showing hosting pieces by the aforementioned Antivan gentleman of note, Bonaiuto Cellini.

Though originally skeptical of our overtures given the recent loss of certain investments, the responsibility for which has been rumored as attributable to Riftwatch's presence in the Waking Sea, we were able to both temporarily reassure Cellini of our investment in his welfare and divert less favorable criticism (specifically: of his artistic endeavors) which might have otherwise found its way to him.

The following was acquired:
    - The gentleman in question's finances are in dire straits, and his competitors are eager to take advantage of his reduced position. Name of note include the Luppis who are evidently eager to undercut him, although they have thus far failed to live up to their full potential due to irreconcilable differences.
    - Cellini reports that he has an ally in Ramondo Caliara. He also claims to yet have opportunities to expand his business with certain trade partners in Tevinter, although declined to supply further detail on the subject.
    - Cellini expressed an intention to forward a gesture of thanks to Riftwatch in return for its support of the arts. Ambassador Rutyer's name was accordingly supplied as a reference.

Respectfully,
X

NEXT STEPS: Formally suggest pursuing contact with Ramondo Caliara in an effort to determine why he remains invested in Cellini's business dealings; conversely, reconcile the Luppis and see, in exchange for their support in the war against Tevinter, that they are successful in undermining Cellini.

(In successive months, a distinctly unfortunate self portrait by Cellini will be delivered to the Gallows, ℅ the Diplomacy Division. Anyone who attended the show will be able to confirm that no, it isn't an insult; that's Just How Cellini Paints.)

SUMMARY: A questionable assortment of individuals go to Tantervale to argue theology and do shockingly well with only one (1) nerd fight.

REPORT:
Attendance to the Tantervale Summit, hosted by Lady Chancellor Davina Crouch completed.
Summit was receptive to most points argued by Riftwatch representatives. Unexpected given Tantervale’s preference for traditional leanings.
Breakdown in polite debate occurred during the question of the Chantry’s tolerance towards Tevinter’s Chantry. However, the Lady Chancellor seemed generally positive towards the company prior to departure.

NEXT STEPS: Presumably further relationships can be fostered between Tantervale’s authority and Riftwatch.

DATE FILED: August 9:46
STATUS: Ongoing / Complete
SUMMARY: Five agents were sent to drop pamphlets over the Ander camp
REPORT:
It was a lovely mission. The griffons soared. The moon was shining in perfect weather. The pamphlets were released in unison and timed perfectly. It was like poetry in motion. Never has there been a more successful mission.

There were no injuries. There were no attacks. There were no arrows in any body parts. There were no problems. Absolutely no one threw any mudballs. Edgard did especially well. He is a standout agent and should receive commendation.

Also, the griffons were extremely beautiful. They deserve double meals for a week.

NEXT STEPS: It was a clusterfuck, but a successful clusterfuck. The hot goss was delivered and will hopefully do its work.

PARTICIPANTS: Derrica, Nikos, Lino
CLASSIFICATION: Public???
DATE FILED: Cloudreach 9:46???
STATUS: Ongoing / Complete
SUMMARY: Three agents were sent to Nevarra City in search of magical artifacts stored in the Chantry. As it was in use as an infirmary, they decided to pose as healers and search after dark. They were able to find a working eluvian, though they weren't able to search further and locate anything else before a fire broke out and forced them to evacuate.

REPORT:
After learning that the Chantry was being used as a field hospital, Nikos and I disguised ourselves as healers and Lino posed as our personal guard. The Reverend Mother questioned us briefly, but we were allowed in to make ourselves useful. Lino observed as Nikos and I assisted the Chantry sisters until we had a moment to break away and start searching.

The actual search had mixed results. We did find a working eluvian, but we weren't able to search very thoroughly. While we were trying to decide on a way to smuggle the eluvian out of the Chantry without being seen, a fire broke out. [ some scribbles around this line, as if Derrica rewrote it a few times. ] It was fortunate for us, as the fire disrupted the soldiers patrolling. They ran to try and put the fire out, and we were able to get the eluvian out of the Chantry unseen—I assume anyone who saw us thought we were working on behalf of the Chantry to save the relics and if there were questions, they happened after we were long gone.

As instructed, we traveled with the eluvian to the wine cellar and secured it there. That leg of the journey was uneventful.
NEXT STEPS: Did someone recognize one of these three? Were they followed to the contact's wine cellar? Who knows!

SUMMARY: A team accompanied a shipment of romance novels as an excuse to visit Merchant Prince Daniello Bassadoar and try to learn why he had recently adopted a much less helpful stance on Antivan neutrality.

REPORT:

[ Messily: ]
Byerly,

Prince’s son is being held some where in Tevinter. If there is any sign we are aware, he may come to harm. Prince trusts us to help him for now. Do not let anyone stupid talk to him.

I will write down the rest later.

Bastien
[ Later replaced by, or possibly just joined by, a much neater: ]
Dear Monsieur Ambassadeur Rutyer:

Agostino Bassadoar is being held hostage by someone in Tevinter to guarantee the cooperation of Merchant Prince Daniello Bassadoar in preventing Antiva from becoming more involved in the war. They have been given a ward to pass off for their child in the meantime. As long as we do not jepardize his son’s safety with a lack of discretion, Prince Daniello and his wife will speak with us further. But of course they will not budge on neutrality while their son remains missing.

For the benefit of whoever may work with them in the future. Prince Bassadoar does indeed love his romance novels as much as rumored. I would recommend not pushing him harder than necessary. He is a man who would like to trust an apparent ally but needs space to decide. I suspect his wife Tomasia of being the more resolute of the two and if opposed to us she would be the more formidable. While we are her allies that should not be an issue. Their nursemaid is well meaning but indiscreet.

Of course I must note that Mlle Poppell and Warden Ellis were both remarkable in their subtlety and charm.

With respect, sincerity, humility, etcetera,

Bastien
