[ This is the darkest timeline. But he's not a quitter. After a horrified pause, he takes a deep breath. ]

YOU KNOW ANDRASTE'S OLD MABARI. HE DON'T SHOW UP IN THE CHANT— [ air gulp ] —AND IF YOU ASK THOSE HOLY SISTERS, WELL, THEY'LL SAY ANDRASTE CAN'T HAVE SOME BIG OLD SMELLY WARDOG, BUT ALL FERELDEN KNOWS IT RIGHT— [ air! ] OUR SWEET LADY NEEDED SOMEONE WHO COULD WARM HER FEET AT NIGHT.

[The noise that comes from one participant is wheezing, rather than lips smacking. Alistair is singing loudly to drown out any sounds of making out. The Alistair. Is singing. A horrible, awful song. While Anders is with Nate, and near Kaisa, and the world isn't so bad.

He can't make out because he's laughing too hard to breathe right.]

No no no no, [Nathaniel whispers, the occasional bubble of spiteful laughter breaking out.] If we stop, he'll know he has a weapon he can use later.

[But it's no use. Anders' laughter is infectious. Soon Nathaniel is bent over Anders' shoulder, laughing harder than he has in months, maybe years.]
