Good evening, everyone. My name is Josephine Montilyet and I am the Ambassador for the Inquisition. I've not had the pleasure of meeting as many of you as would like personally, so... I thought this might be an easier, more - ah - approachable way of getting to know each other better.

( She clears her throat as though to prevent herself from rambling. )

I must confess I do not know where to start. Perhaps a conversational ice-breaker will have to do. ( So much for not rambling. ) What do you miss most about your life before the Inquisition?

[ Dany smiles almost indulgently. ]

It looks a bit like a sea, I think. The tall grass swaying in the wind can seem like water, and it goes on and on...

And you lived there? It must have been quite the experience.

It was. [ In both good and... very bad ways. ] It is not a place most would choose to live, but it suits the lifestyle of the people I traveled with.

[ It is a good world for horses and horse lords, at any rate. ]

And what sort of people were they? I must admit, I have always been fond of the sea myself. The one with the water, that is, but I'm certain this plain you speak of has its allure all the same.

Afraid of the true sea, for one. [ Dany chuckles. ] Because horses cannot cross water, they think it poison. They are a wild people, with... impulsive action and great value on strength and skill in battle. I learned much from them, but they can also be cruel, rigid, and -

[ Vicious. She swallows, thinking of the villages that had been plundered, the people who had been set upon by Drogo's men. ]

People, no matter where they are from, are often set in their ways and capable of acts of great cruelty. Sometimes it just wears different clothing ( lace and masks she thinks, but doesn't say, it does her no good to dwell on Orlais these days ) .

Is it odd that I wish that I could see the worlds you have all come from with my very own eyes?

Odd? Not at all. [ The question is a surprise, and it coaxes a small smile from the young woman. ] I have always wished to see Westeros, where I was born. Is it so strange that you, or anyone, might want to see a place they've heard much about?

[ If she had only heard tales of Thedas, she would never have believed them. Seeing the place for herself, with its magic and people... it's still difficult to believe. ]

I do not find it so strange, no. Yet there are many people in Thedas who would not share similar views.

You do not remember your place of birth?

No. I was born at Dragonstone, but we were quickly sent away across the Sea to escape slaughter. My brother's family had been murdered and we would have been next.

[ Hey, she asked. ]

I aim to return there someday. Soon.

( She makes a disgruntled sort of noise, almost at a loss of what to say. )

I -- you have my sympathies, although I know they are not worth very much. ( She is, however, too curious not to press on forward. )

What do you plan to do once you return?

To take back the throne that rightfully belongs to my family. [ To her, really, as the other Targaryens are gone. ] By any means necessary.

[ Hence the whole 'amassing an army across the sea' deal. ]

( Josephine cannot exactly empathize with the other woman's goals - she has lines she will not cross, at least when it comes to her personal life, but still. She can understand, so all she says is: )

An admirable goal.

[ She's made the other woman uncomfortable. It's understandable. ]

Thank you. [ There's a pause. ] Have you any other questions?

( So many she scarcely knows where to begin, but she feels like she's taken up enough of the other woman's time today, so she simply says: )
