A question of great importance: who is the most interesting person in Riftwatch?

I am composing a list, which I very easily could make alone. But that is not amusing. So, the winner of the list will of course receive a prize. An extra point will be awarded to a Rifter, quite obviously. Points deducted for, hm, [totally at random here,] let us say.... Wardens. I have nothing against them. Once I admired them! Then I had my sixth birthday, and I grew bored with them.

[Will Aleksei be cool and show up too? Probably. He is pretty cool. But Doki is confirmed cool, so she shows without question, and wanders down the length of the stables petting horse noses with a great deal of familiarity.

To one very pretty horse, she stops and addresses him to his face:] Are you the horse girl?

[ Jenny Lou actually pops up from the stall next to the withered mummified horse. ]

No, sorry. That's me. People get weird when I shift from an animal to a person, so. [ Shrug. ]

Oh, you are little!

[Pleased, she grins, and turns away from the pretty horse.]

And that is the dead horse that everyone is talking about. I do not care much about him. I think it is gross, what lowlanders do with their dead. We are much better about it.

Okay, show show show. I want to see you become a horse.

He's kinda cool though. He's got a fancy name, but I can't ever say it right, it has like ten vowels.

Anyway.

[ She takes a couple steps back so she won't bump into anything or anybody and shifts. It's a smooth transition and looks almost like Gringolet simply stretches out from where Jenny Lou had been a moment ago. He's not as pretty as the other horse, bred for carrying a knight into battle, but he's still a fine war charger, long ears pricked forwards and head bobbing a little in greeting. ]

Oooh.

[Doki, having taken half a step back when the weird stretching started, now takes two steps forward. Her eyes are practically glowing. Maybe she should be more worried--mages can fuck you up, man--but this isn't the kind of magic that is going to kick her ass. Not yet, anyways.]

What is this. Very strange. But useful. You would be very good in fighting, horse girl.

[Wait a second. She tilts her head, peeking under the horse.]

You are a boy horse? Woah.

[ Gringolet gives a soft nicker and then seems to shrink in on himself. Jenny Lou stands there, rolling her shoulders a little and grinning. ]

Yeeaaaaah, it's a weird story. I'm a girl whenever I turn into something else, but Gringolet is like waaaay different.

[She does another appreciative oooh when Jenny Lou shifts back.]

He has a different name than you? But he is you.

Ssssort of? Kind of not?

[ there's some vague gesturing here, because she is aware it is weird, thank you. ] Like every other animal I turn into is totally me, but with like a little bit of animal brain, right? But when I'm Gringolet, it's like the part of my brain that should be a horse is someone else.

[Doki squints.]

I think you know that is nonsense. Why only the horse? Maybe you are really a horse and not a girl and that is why.

[ Jenny Lou rolls her eyes. ]

Cus the guy who gave me my powers had a really awesome horse and since he was packing my ass off to start a war, I guess he figured I could use a good one? I'm pretty sure I'm not a horse.

Pretty sure is not sure.

[Just sayin'.]

What do you mean that he had a horse, does that mean he rode around on a horse or that he was also a horse sometimes?

I'm very sure I'm not a horse.

[ That question is good tho and Jenny Lou scrunches up her face a little, thinking about it. ]

Mmm, I'm pretty sure he just rode around on a horse. I don't think he ever turned into one. But he mighta tho. Saints are like that, right?

Yes, [Doki says, decisively, before--] if you say so. I think it would be boring if you could be a horse and you chose not to be.
