We got an assignment needs completing, but to get that done we need to get a survey done, so that requires plaguin’ you lot for some information about health and doctorin’.

[And kind of ignoring all those words she doesn't understand at all--] If you're concerned about who can read it, it won't be something nailed to a board where anyone can get hold of it. But so the healers know not to give you a thing you hate or can't have when you were stupid enough to land in their laps.

But she’s right, medical shit is confidential, this is just to help make sure the Inquisition treats you right and in accordance with your wishes and all that. We’ll be using it to make a report for Commander Coupe, but beyond that it’ll be for medical personnel only.

All right, that’s--let’s not--get in our own way here, shall we. [That’s certainly helping.] If you’d feel better speaking to an Andrastian about all this, or just...a native, and you don’t mind it being a templar, that’s what I’m here for. [Simon doesn’t really get why all the preoccupation with fancy things like “privacy” and “confidentiality,” but if it gets them answers.]

Nicely to meet you, Beleth. Scoutmaster? Whichever is the proper means of address. I'm Alex Karahalios, rifter extraordinaire. I studied biomed and a lot of science at university, but I decided to train as a veterinarian, rather than a doctor for people, so I'm... having to adjust my skillset a bit. If you ever need help with animals or science as well as this medical stuff, I'm here for it.

[ Those sure are a lot of things that Alex lists off that Beleth has never heard of before, but she's used to rifters rambling about random words and things that sound like nonsense, but probably make perfect sense to someone from her world.

Yes, Scoutmaster is the correct term.

[ Some mulling leads Beleth to working out that whatever Alex was talking about, she's currently something like a doctor, and maybe helps animals?? Which is nice. ]

I do have a few animals in my care, but luckily, they're quite healthy at the moment. I'll remember to contact you if that changes, however. I think there are other rifters here who are interested in, ah. Science. [ It's a word that Beleth has heard of, and the idea does exist in Thedas, though it's of as much use to her as biomed or whatever else. ] You could get in touch and talk about science together...?

Yeah, do it. If you ever want me to have a look at 'em while they're healthy so I got an idea of their baseline and just how off-colour they are when they're sick, I'm good with that, too. I mean, I'm pretty on it with cats and dogs and that, but if you got a pet... giant spider or something I might just need to do a little more research to be adequately prepared.

( And she sounds amused. ) Uh, wow Scoutmaster, not all scientists care about the same science. Way to make assumptions.

Not a giant spider, but a miniature dragon. And a hart. If...you'd rather not look at them, I'd understand. But there are plenty of dogs and cats running around here as well, so I'm sure you'll have plenty of work, if you wish it.

How many sciences are there?

I want to look at them. ( She almost cuts Beleth off in her enthusiasm. ) I'd love to look at them. That sounds amazing.

( and then, a pause. )

Oh, holy dooley. So many. I definitely couldn't list 'em all. I mean you got like your natural sciences and social sciences and then you got your sciences like logic and mathematics and stuff that falls into the formal sciences kinda sphere, and then each of those branches kind of break down more. Some people wouldn't count particular sciences as a hard science and they think if it ain't a hard science then it don't count, but I reckon that a crock of shit, personally.
