Good morning, Inquisition.

( It’s early afternoon, easily. She sounds very relaxed, and it would not be inaccurate to imagine her reclining on a sea of cushions and eating chocolate. Her accent is distinctly Antivan, and probably should be accompanied by a montage of vineyards and orange blossom. It’s just the kind of vibe she gives off. )

I wanted to apologise for any inconvenience caused the last few days by my arrival; the family estate in Hightown was not yet ready to receive me, it seems, and so there has been some to-ing and fro-ing. I understand one of the birds caused a little confusion.

( It trapped Finch in a cupboard. ) Please rest assured all the flamingos have been moved for their safety.

( And the safety of the Inquisition. )

I am Lady Marisol of the Houses Vivas and de la Nieve, Asturias and Hierro. ( Merchant Princes, nobility, pirates. You may remember her from such mage empowerment videos as GO REBELS GO and IT’S NOT SMUGGLING, IT’S SPECIALISED TRADE. ) You know, I had planned to be here a little sooner, but the weather in Antiva was so fine. I couldn’t bring much winter sunshine with me, but the Inquisition’s supplies have been replenished a little.

So! Is anyone here from the Rialto Circle? And can anyone explain why it is I should bring ships and staff to an Inquisition that took to destroying the Necropolis? I have some aunts and uncles who are very upset about it.

( She, personally, does not sound seriously concerned, but apparently she doesn’t sound seriously concerned about anything. )

Because we got locked in and got attacked. And yes, we know, no evidence, blah blah blah, how dare we. But it's what happened. I don't suppose all those skeletons and their weapons suddenly being not in their crypts and instead strewn about the causeways in heaps wasn't some kind of indication?

Yes. Kirkwall is not the most vibrant of settings, and the Gallows not especially prestigious. If you wish to make a positive impact on visiting nobility, it is good to have something interesting for them to look at.

And I think, given the reaction of Nevarra as a whole, the answer would be a resounding no. An elaborate ruse by the Inquisition is not so far fetched, in the eyes of some.

( She's not saying they're her views, just... #yikes. )

With the potential to cause havoc if let loose, which it sounds like it already happened. Is this climate even any good for the birds? I thought they lived in the warmer areas of Thedas.

[Something interesting to look at is all well and good, but why does it have to involve living things that shit and can peck at people?]

Right. Like we have nothing better to do than just smash a huge underground crypt. [It doesn't entirely surprise him, not really, but it doesn't make him want to bash his head against a wall any less.]

They do, there will be an special house for them once the estate is complete.

As I told the learned Avaar; prove it. Show the claims absurdity, gather proof, fix matters with Nevarra. At the moment, the Inquisition looks destructive.

[Carver kind of feels bad for the birds. They're not meant for cities like this, but it's not like he's gonna be able to change anything.

Proof's a bit hard without bodies, especially when people seem to be wanting any excuse to put the Inquisition in a bad light. [A pause. He doesn't want to do the same crap he did when he was younger: complain without offering a solution, or at least trying to move forward towards one.] But finding the culprits should put the matter to rest, no?

It would, at the very least, make people realise there is more to the tale. Finding the culprits and irrefutable evidence would go further otherwise they could be simply... a scapegoat. No, what is needed is the culprit, evidence that show without a doubt they are the one responsible, and then they must be handed to Nevarra to be dealt with. The crime was committed against Nevarra, after all, and not the Inquisition.

[He's setting this to private, just in case. Hopefully the evidence comes with the culprits, but it'd be getting to both that's the tricky part.]

Agreed on all points. Should probably also offer to repair and or pay for the damages, though I'm no coin counter so I can't speak to how or even if the Inquisition can afford that. But this would also require a bloody investigation. And it'd have to start in Nevarra. Our guide abandoned us and locked us in the Necropolis, so he'd be the one to start with.

It would require the cooperation of the Nevarran court; some investigation might need to take place in the Necropolis, and I doubt very much that any member of Inquisition will be allowed to walk that hallowed ground ever again. Looking into who organised the tour and who appointed the guide might be useful steps.

[They could always sneak into the Necropolis in disguise, he supposes. Not that he's a rogue or stealthy in any way. Buuuuut maybe best to save that as an absolute last resort.]

I'll ask around here and see who had a hand in that. One of the higher ups, I'd wager. Someone knows.
