The age-old question

FORM: Sending Crystal

NOTES: Tiny teen qunari muses about not being tiny any more.

So at what age are you really an adult? I mean, not maturely but like... to other people. You say you 'come of age' and stuff like that but exactly what age is that in Ferelden? Here you can't join the army if you're under seventeen, which is fair. Does that mean you're an adult after seventeen?

I heard some rifter saying you can't drink unless you're eighteen or twenty-one or whatever. Rivain doesn't have a rule like that. I had wine when I was a kid, so I don't see the point of restricting it.

...but, like... at what age are you an adult? How old do you gotta be to marry someone without it being weird?

[Pause.]

Not that I'm marrying anyone!

The effect the Fifth Blight had on Ferelden is not to be underestimated, either; many lives and livelihoods were lost. We're still recovering. I would not be at all surprised to learn that's had an effect on the timing of weddings and such.

Precisely.

How is it done, in Rivain?

Seventeen sounds reasonable--

'No-Name'?

That's an interesting option. Hopefully they'll make a choice they're satisfied with.

It would seem to me that given your age and the responsibilities you already carry, that your adulthood should be evident enough. If any questions you, they can gently be reminded of this fact.

[There's soft, sympathetic laughter at that.]

As a tiny elf, I can somewhat relate. It must be harder to be part of a race that is naturally so large. Although being smaller than usual seems as though it would be an advantage, as a scout.

[That gets her to chuckle.]

Not quite that short. I'm a couple of inches short of five feet.

[She's heard that way too many times to be offended by now, so her tone is mostly amused in turn.]

Fortunately, my war hound companion more than makes up for my lack in size and bulk.

[There's the sound of her light footsteps before she settles down again, next to some canine panting.]

Indeed. Garahel, say hello.

[In response, there's a relatively quiet bark from the mabari.]

[There's tail-thumping in response and a soft whine.]

Now you've done it, he'll need belly rubs.
circleprodigy: (wry smile)

Oh, I have no doubt. That used to be Garahel a couple of years ago, he's on the young side. I've had him since he was a young pup, and sometimes he still thinks he can sit in my lap.

...now my griffon mount feels the same way. It's a burden.

Well, more accurately the Grey Wardens as a whole own the griffons. However, one has accepted me for mount training.

Her baby name is...Potato. [Sigh.] I am trying to get her to accept something else.

[Sigh. Thanks, Maja.]

Maja's naming skills are...well. There is also Flea, Burp...and so on. But despite their silly names, they are still formidable creatures.
