All rifters and shard-bearers are required to come and report to me, or Bruce in the healer's tents. You can find me at the base of the library tower.
If you cannot come to see me within the next three days, please inform me immediately, so we can make other arrangements.
Please remember that the shard's magic can be dangerous to both you and those around you - do not disregard my request.
[And then the crystal goes silent.
OOC: BASICALLY everyone with a shard needs to come see Solas. 90% of these will be handwaved, but otherwise feel free to hit me up and ask for deets, reply here with questions, or reply here with action threads. I know there are a bunch of rifters currently on a mission, or elsewhere, so obviously if you don't get this message, you don't get it! But Bruce and Solas will also be actively seeking people out.]

We will be glad to come to see you within the requested time, but.. we are still very new. May we ask how we will recognize you? Or will you be alone there..? [ he trails off for a moment, then forges on. ] And we still have many questions about-- about our arrival and the.. shard. Would.. you be the one to whom we would speak regarding such matters?
no subject
And yes, any questions about shards and your arrival I would be happy to help you with. [He isn't sure who 'we' is, but he supposes he will find out soon enough.]

[ and true to his word, maia arrives within a few hours. it doesn't do to be tardy, after all, particularly given that these shards are apparently dangerous. he's dressed in white, of course, and his hair is braided, but he's left off most of the jewelry save for his earrings, and oath- and crest-rings.
he raps lightly on the doorframe as he steps inside, ears lifting a little at the sight of the stranger. ]
Mer.. Solas, yes? [ he laces his hands together lightly, trying not to look either nervous or shy (and failing a bit at both). ] Good day. We are-- [ a brief pause, because it still feels a little strange to be giving his personal name to strangers, but.. ] We are Maia of House Drazhar. We.. spoke to you briefly, we believe?
no subject
I am Solas, yes. It is a pleasure to meet - you. [And there his confusion becomes apparent.]
Forgive my bluntness, but do you speak for one soul, or two?
no subject
Our apologies for the confusion, but we are one person. [ his hands tighten around one another, ears flattening back faintly. ] Our language is very formal, we fear, and our-- our rank at home does not often give us opportunity to speak familiarly with others. We are a little out of practice.
no subject
Ah, I see. [Though he's not prone to like authority, he does like it when people are polite, so he offers a warm, genuine smile.]
You may speak however you are comfortable. May I examine your shard?
no subject
he hesitates for a few moments, glancing down at his palm, then up at solas once more, brows knitting faintly. ] Do.. you know how it is that.. those like myself have come to be here? [ he can't stop thinking about how things may be at home. he has duties that he should be attending, and he's worried about his nohecharei, his family, his people.. ]

[He carefully took Maia's hand in his, frowning down at it, before using his other hand to hover over the shard. His hand began to glow, a dim green at first, then brighter - and then it faded completely and he pulled his hand away.]
There. Hopefully that will suffice, for now. And I am afraid I only have theories as to how the Rifters came to us - I can offer no solid conclusions. My guess is that the Breach has so destabilised the reality of this plane, that not only has it opened gaps into the Fade, but through it, into other worlds like your own. That surge of power then must have somehow pulled you through it.

[ he flinches a little in surprise at the rather alarming glow, but his shoulders ease once more as it fades. was it supposed to do that? he supposes so, if mer solas seems satisfied.
he considers the answer for several moments, absently turning the oath-ring on his thumb, trying not to let his ears droop. that.. sounds quite complicated. and dangerous for this world. ]
We feel that we have a great deal to learn while we are here, especially if we are to make any use of ourself. [ terms like the breach, the fade.. they only mean so much to him. ] Do-- Do you have recommendations for where we should begin?
no subject
[He paused at the question, thinking.]
That entirely depends on how you wish to be useful, and what it is you wish to learn. I am happy to answer any questions you may have.
no subject
he hesitates for a few moments, smoothing at an invisible wrinkle on his robes. ] Well.. we are uncertain at the moment. We suppose that we should begin with-- with basic information about this world. The.. Fade, the Veil.. These are terms that we've heard, but we know very little about. And we should familiarize ourself with the nations the Inquisition has contact with, we suspect.
[ he glances back up once more, and his face heats. ] Our life was very.. isolated until last year, so we fear that our practical skills are somewhat lacking.

[He shouldn't like him. It's against his nature, to approve of nobility, but he can't help himself. Perhaps it is because of his willingness to admit that he isn't perfect.
He, at least, does not pretend to be a god.
And Solas does so like it when people are willing to ask questions and learn.
So he smiles, fondly, and gestures to a chair.]
I can explain some, if you like. Perhaps over tea?
no subject
[ he lifts gray--almost silver--eyes to the other elf, expression earnest and a little hopeful. he's been lucky thus far, he knows-- first thranduil, now solas, when his strange appearance and gray skin must surely be as off-putting and ugly here as it is at home. ]
We feel that we must apologize in advance for the many questions we will doubtless have, and pray that you will be patient with us. [ he hesitates, ears flattening back once more, a little flustered. ] .. Begging your pardon, but you would not perhaps happen to have paper and pen with which we might take notes?
