Yes. Unfortunately. Though I am sure some of you are more protected than others, I cannot be certain. I would not want to miss someone accidentally. I have no intention of having their deaths upon my head.

Demon possession, in the most abrupt of terms. But more generally: it seems that the shards themselves may be able to lure spirits from the Fade to our side. Even without the use of a rift. Even those of you who would be able to resist such a thing could unfortunately also be endangering those around you, as well as the Spirits who would find themselves drawn to you.

It is not their fault, that you bear your shard, just as it is not yours.

I would rather not see either of you come to harm.

They can close rifts. [ and probably open them ] I suppose that makes sense, and it is not as though most mortals of this world need an excuse to attack either myself or native spirits.
