All rifters and shard-bearers are required to come and report to me, or Bruce in the healer's tents. You can find me at the base of the library tower.
If you cannot come to see me within the next three days, please inform me immediately, so we can make other arrangements.
Please remember that the shard's magic can be dangerous to both you and those around you - do not disregard my request.
[And then the crystal goes silent.
OOC: BASICALLY everyone with a shard needs to come see Solas. 90% of these will be handwaved, but otherwise feel free to hit me up and ask for deets, reply here with questions, or reply here with action threads. I know there are a bunch of rifters currently on a mission, or elsewhere, so obviously if you don't get this message, you don't get it! But Bruce and Solas will also be actively seeking people out.]

As is - naturally - the menacing reminder of how dangerous the shard in his hand can be.
Sam gulps as he reaches the base of the tower, and then clears his throat. ]
Mr. Solas, sir?

[He had heard about this particular rifter, from various sources, and had a good deal of curiosity about him. Not least for what he could tell him about the elves from his home world.]
This won't take more than a moment, I assure you. Come in.
no subject
Yes, sir. Only it's just Sam.
[ And now he's looking curiously at Solas, temporarily distracted from his fears by the sight of the strange elf. ]
Why, you do look just like your picture! An elf with no hair - I never thought I'd see it!

[Solas looked a little bemused as he watched the... ... creature ... walk into the room.]
And I never thought I would meet one of your kind, but here we are. I understood from Thranduil that baldness is rare in your world, among the elves. I am sorry to say that it certainly isn't in mine.

[ Suddenly Sam is even more interested in Solas than he had been - and perhaps a bit less frightened, too. After all, no one who was friendly with Thranduil could possibly be that terrible. ]
It's all right, sir; we can't all have golden hair like the Lady Galadriel. [ And with that backhanded compliment tossed off, he politely bows at the waist. ] Samwise Gamgee, hobbit of the Shire, at your service.
no subject
I have, yes. I consider him - a friend.
Solas, at yours. It is a pleasure to meet you, Samwise. Would you allow me to see your shard?
no subject
It's not hurting so much as it was. And I haven't tried to use the magic - no one has, since, since Weisshaupt.
no subject
This, hopefully should make it hurt less, and allow you access to its magic if you require it.
[His hand glowed - gently a first, a pale green, and then the glow spread and brightened, until a great green glow beamed from it. Then, as quickly as it had begun, it faded - and he released Sam's hand.]
There. How does it feel?
no subject
Why, I can hardly feel it at all now! Only - [ He hesitates, then shyly looks up at Solas, hopeful and beseeching. ] Only - well, if it's not too much trouble, couldn't you just - take the magic away?
no subject
[He can't help but smile sympathetically down at the creature, gently placing a hand on his shoulder.]
I am truly sorry, Samwise, but I cannot. To even attempt it would put your life at risk, with very little chance of success. I am afraid you must be brave, and continue to bear it, for your sake and ours.
no subject
[ Sam bows his head, crestfallen. With anyone else, he might have argued, but Solas is an elf, and obviously a very wise one, despite his lack of hair. ]
I understand, sir.
no subject
[Oh god he wants to keep him.]
[He pauses, and then says gently:]
I cannot offer you freedom, but perhaps I can offer you comfort? Some tea, perhaps, and something for a snack. I admit I am curious to hear about Thranduil and Galadriel as they were in their own lands, if you would be as kind as to share it with me.
no subject
Oh yes sir, a bit of food would be very welcome, and... [ He wavers a bit. It would be rude to decline, wouldn't it? But Sam has never drunk much tea, well aware of, and because of, its incredible expense. He can hardly conceive of drinking Solas', out of what must be a very precious stash. ] Well, just - I'm not so thirsty, anyhow.
