Good evening, everyone. My name is Josephine Montilyet and I am the Ambassador for the Inquisition. I've not had the pleasure of meeting as many of you as would like personally, so... I thought this might be an easier, more - ah - approachable way of getting to know each other better.

( She clears her throat as though to prevent herself from rambling. )

I must confess I do not know where to start. Perhaps a conversational ice-breaker will have to do. ( So much for not rambling. ) What do you miss most about your life before the Inquisition?

It doesn't have to take all day. I can come up with a list of some things that are quick and simple to make.

Aye, well, let me put it this way. If I had a gold piece for every time he wound up landing us somewhere where we got mixed up in something, you'd not need quite so many nobles to help fund the Inquisition. And that's not even counting the times where he'd land the TARDIS in the middle of the ocean or up the side of a mountain or right in the path of a great big river of lava.

I suppose it would be nice to get out of the office...

( This? This is the sound of Josephine being swayed. )

( This "Tardis" sounds like a ship but also not a ship. It is confusing and wonderful. )

Up the side of a mountain? Truly?

And you won't be far if something big comes up, I guess?

[Plus, imagine everyone's expressions the first time Josephine shows up to a war table meeting with flour smudged on her cheek. How could anyone deny the world a moment like that?]

Is this a formal inquiry, Ambassador?

[But he has nothing to hide, and understands why him saying that could make people nervous, so his tone is mildly amused rather than bristling.]

Healing, at the tents and for the Wardens, I was at Weisshaupt for the Wardens and Inquisition, at Halamshiral for a time to assist, I've been dealing barn cats to anyone who has empty arms which is highly important, I assure you, and a variety of other things. Incidentally, do you like cats?

['Confusing and wonderful' isn't all that far off, honestly, but given the chance for a good grousing, Jamie's going to take it - even if deep down he still misses travelling the way he used to.]

Aye, more than once. Now, that'd not be so bad -- mountains are mountains, aye? But then he has to go and set the TARDIS down on its side and the only way we were able to get up was to climb on each others shoulders so we could get to the doors in the first place. Trust the Doctor to have to wind up using my head to climb on, too.

[A SIGH.]

I don't suppose there is any hope for Orlesian? No, I will not even ask. That will just be a disappointment. Antivan will do, mademoiselle, on one condition.

That is true.

( All right, she's convinced. )

In that case... when do you suggest we begin?

That sounds like a very... uniquely designed ship. ( That's diplomacy-speak for 'badly'. )

Always? I cannot even begin to imagine such a life. I have never been much for the open water myself. ( She likes looking at it, she likes wondering, but actually being on a boat is another matter. )

( There is quite the amount of information to process in what Anders has said, but she finds herself unfocused by his last question. )

I, ah, have never been one for pets, myself.

( While Josephine vehemently disagrees, she knows better than to get in this argument with an Orlesian. )

And what is the condition?

[This conversation really took an unexpected turn somewhere???]

W- Whenever you like, really. It'd take us all of half an hour to make some shortbread cookies, so if you've even that long to spare...

( She has her ways, you know. Besides, this might even be good for her. )

[Yes, well, hopefully it won't also be Avery's last act in this world once Leliana notices... assuming she isn't ALREADY aware somehow. Which is probably entirely possible.]

That's good to hear. [And, surprisingly, it really is. As unusual as it may be for her, she's actually kind of looking forward to this upcoming social activity.] I'm usually down in the kitchens already, so I shouldn't be hard to find.

[He tends to talk. A lot.]

I see. Is it that you've not had opportunity to try, or no interest, or it's gone in unimpressive ways when you've had one?

[Just try one hit of cat ownership, Josephine.]

No? I went with him sometimes. When you climb up the rigging you can see further than you can from the top of Skyhold on a clear day. [Which she would know since she's the climbing instructor anyway but she knows every inch of the walls and rooftops.] There was always work to be done. Spreading the word, ferrying cargo, guarding the whales from far less scrupulous souls. There sea is never the same one day to the next, no matter what anyone might say. It's constant, but always changing.

You don't know the half of it.

[She could choose to be not diplomatic at all and likely not be wrong, given how often it breaks down. But that's not the point...or, well, not exactly.]

It'd help if the Doctor could fly it as well as he claims to, mind, but I think sometimes that ship has a mind of its own. I'd thought for sure when I first came here that it'd be around somewhere, because it'd be just like it to wind up tumbling through a rift too.
