FORM: Sending crystal
SENDER: Korrin Ataash
RECIPIENT: Everyone
WHAT: Dammit, Anders.
WHEN: Slightly backdated, to after the big announcement. (Well, after she's destroyed some training dummies.)
WHERE: Skyhold
NOTES: Knowing Korrin, language. That's probably it, though. And because I'm lazy, this can also be an action log.

[To say that Korrin's upset at the revelation is a vast understatement, and though her tone is even over the sending crystal, it's a forced calm. Anyone who knows her is likely well-aware of the depths of her fury, though there's been enough ranting over the crystal lately. So instead:]
Anyone else having the powerful urge to drink and vent, you're welcome to join me at the tavern. I'm buying. And just to be clear, I'm not challenging a damn thing. I just want a fucking drink, that's all.
[No ranting over the sending crystal, but she is claiming the venting corner, Merrick. Be prepared.]

It's not them I want to strangle this time, actually. And yes, I do. Maker's balls, who thinks a known abomination running around is a good idea? We've had that problem already, and we've also had someone who opened a rift. This...this is the last damn thing we need.
no subject
We'd best have someone open a Rift. I'm fairly certain the Black City has just frozen over.
[Something in Katniss's gaze shifts, and she looks down at her glass.]
Has anyone talked to this Anders guy? Asked him if they could, I don't know, try ... taking the abomination out?
no subject
There isn't a way to part them, not that I've ever heard and apparently no one else in the mage council has either. Once you invite a spirit into you, that's it. There's no separation, except with death. Which is sadly not an option. Fucking hell, we have enough fractures without him adding to it. And you know there's going to be a backlash against mages, since everyone assumes we'd support that piece of shit even though it's far from the truth. Maybe something official will deter that, but the way people are riled up? I honestly don't know.
no subject
[Katniss stares down into her cup again, before she breaths out slowly.]
I don't think anyone is really going to see any of the mages who are being vocal about hating him as part of the problem. I mean, even the templars have been pretty damned quiet about this.
[Which honestly makes her worry more.]
So ... there's no real way to help an abomination? Even if they don't act like one - I mean, clearly this guy acted like one but still. [She paused, tucking her hair behind her ear.] I just - I have so many friends who are mages. Some of them work with spirits. Are they in danger of that?
[Another pause.] ... and what if the spirit is too powerful to be killed?
no subject
[Korrin shakes her head, her lips forming a thin line.]
He may not be acting like one at the moment, but if something sets him off, you'll see it. Even the most experienced fighters are hard-pressed to keep up with an abomination, let alone civilians. One town my company had been sent to seek out had had an abomination attack and there was...nothing left.
[She'll spare the more graphic description, but shudders all the same.]
I hope you're right, but I haven't forgotten how we were blamed for the Divine's death and then the Herald's. Mages are easy scapegoats even when the issue isn't about them. Now....
You mean the Spirit Healers, right? Yeah, they're in danger. That's the trade-off of all that enhanced healing. It's a very slippery slope, that's why they require so much training, and why Templars side-eye them the most. When you work so extensively with spirits, there's always a risk.
no subject
[She heaved out a breath, as she made a face at the very thought of abominations like that running loose.]
I don't think they can see you as a threat when you're all working so hard for the Inquisition. But then again, I thought that about elves and look what's happening now.
no subject
[She takes another sip, then frowns at mention of the elves, brow furrowing.]
Galadriel's in the dungeons, right? That's what I heard, though...why?
[She seemed so calm and wise when Korrin met her. The thought of her behaving in a way that would get her arrested makes no sense.]
no subject
With all the abominations - and possible abominations ... is it really anything compared to Corypheus? I mean, he's a known evil. A knowing evil, at that. I think it's easier to believe in the Inquisition then something that would do what happened to Haven.
[She sighed, heavily.]
It's sort of a confusing mess, honestly. She said something the Seeker didn't like. Not sure what, but it had something to do with the rifts because all the Rifters are being questioned.
no subject
Even those who've proven themselves to the Inquisition, time and time again? They deserve better than to be lumped together and treated with suspicion just because of circumstances they can't help. [Araceli deserves better.] Alienating them would not only be extremely stupid, given their shards, but utterly wrong. The Seeker has to see that, doesn't she?
no subject
I agree with all of that - and if she doesn't ... [Something in her jaw tightened, as she thought of Airy kept in a cell.] Well I guess the rest of us are going to have to find a way to convince her.
no subject
What about the other advisers? Cassandra's not alone in leading the Inquisition. It can't be only her decision. Leliana's been a strong supporter of the freedoms and rights of others. And Josephine's a diplomatic genius; she'd know how this would have repercussions.
[Cullen's view is the least well-known to her personally, but she glances to Katniss, hoping her friend has more of an idea there.]
no subject
You're right. Neither Leliana or Josephine would allow anything like that. Cullen ... Cullen is going to do what he thinks is going to keep the Inquisition and our people safe. So it really depends on what the conversation was between Galadriel and Cassandra was about.
no subject
It's bullshit when a rifter woman who has committed no apparent crime is imprisoned, but a known mass-murderer isn't. But you're not wrong; context is everything. It'd be worth finding out if Galadriel would be any more forthcoming than the Lady Seeker. I want to know what to protect Araceli -and the others- against.
no subject
So ... could we not go down into her cell and ask her why they put her in prison? That would give us more context, and, I dunno, give us a reason to talk directly to Seeker Penterghast.
no subject
[She's not quite clear on that, but sees no reason why they'd be denied. Then again, as far as she can tell, there's no reason to have Galadriel locked up in the first place.]
Though I'd better get a hold on my temper before talking to anyone in more than rant-form. Bad decisions are still very possible.
no subject
You leave your ass right there. There's no way we're going down into the prison to see Galadriel when you're this angry. You're likely to sock some poor guard.
no subject
Yes, ma'am.
I've never actually spent a night in one of the dungeon cells, but this would likely be the night to break that record. I suppose I could save them the trouble and just volunteer, but then...no booze.
no subject
You really do need to stay where you are, where the booze is. We can try to visit this side of the prison tomorrow where it's less ... less angry.
no subject
[When she's in the mood to be productive, that's what she prefers. That mood isn't now, but it won't last. It never does.]
Besides, you know there'll be another damned council meeting I'll have to be around for, because of this. It might even be the first one where we almost unanimously agree on something.
no subject
[She played with her cup a little.]
You all seem to have a lot of council meeting these days.
no subject
[She heaves a sigh.]
Answers would be nice, but at this point I'm not for trusting the Wardens' judgment. There's no way harboring an abomination can end well, unless their intent is to throw him in the Deep Roads and have him take out a darkspawn horde by himself. The Inquisition leadership is a different story, but it's troubling that they wouldn't make it known why she's in there.
no subject
[She arched an eyebrow.]
Where are they in the whole blame taking of all this, that's what I am asking. The Templars, I mean, not the Wardens. Though I suppose the Wardens should take their own share of the blame here.
no subject
[At least in her own experience and after that, Korrin's decided to leave dealing with the Templars to those with longer fuses.]
But I'm surprised they haven't thrown a fit about Anders, or if they have, it's very low-key. That's almost a shame, you know? It'd be the one thing I'd be in complete agreement with them on, most likely.
no subject
[Now there's a thought, and it both gave her some sense of happiness - and worry. Bruce could be out there ... ]
You know. I wonder. I wonder if they're keeping quiet because the Inquisition already stated they wouldn't take any retaliation.
no subject
True, but is it like them to just let that go? I mean, this was the guy famous for escaping the Circle countless times and they always found and dragged him back, until the Wardens. [She doesn't know they even infiltrated the Warden ranks to get at him, which is too bad since it might earn the smallest amount of sympathy.] Thedas' most wanted, and that's it? It just seems...odd.
