Hello, Riftwatch. I can't tell from observation if it's the custom to give an introduction--I think it's not--but I prefer this to waiting to catching everyone one-by-one in the hallway or training yard. I'm Lady Seeker Theophania Hart. [Well.] Tiffany. I do the title first so there's no surprise later.

I'm among the newest of your company, permanently, but here to investigate the recent abomination. I'll be requesting records and following up on the leads that I have throughout the course of my work, but if anyone has anything additional that should be said, please, let me know.

For the record, I'm finding the Gallows to be surprisingly comfortable, but maybe that's because I've been on the road for what feels like an actual Age, and the weather is terrible, and I'm suffering what I believe to be a mild case of trench foot. Given the time you've all been having, I'll stop my complaining there.

I suppose that's it, unless anyone has any advice to offer to a new recruit. And you can skip any hazing, I'm much too old for it.

I'm sorry. You're the first I've spoken to, I think. I suppose I wasn't excepting anything, exactly, but it's--it's still unusual.

No need to be sorry about it. It's real fuckin' unusual, actually, but I'm gettin' used to things here.

Is Thedas very different from the place that you come from?

[clawings]

Very. Everything is different, from the root to the leaves. We ain't got magic, like y'all do, or anything but humans for the most part. Technology is hella different. More people. Bigger countries, but smaller ones too.

So rifts themselves aren't something you knew, before this?

[clawings]

Nah. Holes in reality might'a been a thing in some places but I ain't known about it.

I wish there was a sense to it. I suppose there might be, one known to something greater than us, but it would be nice to have a way to understand it.

I suppose. Feel lucky enough that there were folks around to help me get here when it happened, though they're both gone now.

Not all of us are looking for a way back.

Were they looking for a way? The people who helped you?

We ain't really talked about it but I assume so. Most folks wake up in a world different from home, they're gonna try to find their way back.

Yes. Of course. That was a stupid question, I'm sorry.

Nah don't worry about it. I ain't offended or nothin'.

Well, good. I'm glad for that at least. And I promise to get better at talking to Rifters so you needn't dread that every conversation with me is going to be like this.
