Hello, Riftwatch. I can't tell from observation if it's the custom to give an introduction--I think it's not--but I prefer this to waiting to catching everyone one-by-one in the hallway or training yard. I'm Lady Seeker Theophania Hart. [Well.] Tiffany. I do the title first so there's no surprise later.

I'm among the newest of your company, permanently, but here to investigate the recent abomination. I'll be requesting records and following up on the leads that I have throughout the course of my work, but if anyone has anything additional that should be said, please, let me know.

For the record, I'm finding the Gallows to be surprisingly comfortable, but maybe that's because I've been on the road for what feels like an actual Age, and the weather is terrible, and I'm suffering what I believe to be a mild case of trench foot. Given the time you've all been having, I'll stop my complaining there.

I suppose that's it, unless anyone has any advice to offer to a new recruit. And you can skip any hazing, I'm much too old for it.

If I recall, we had some folks tracing the letter the poor sod had on him to see if he had any kin. One of the division heads should have a file on record about it.

And you should be getting to the infirmary to have somebody take a look at your foot.

Thank you for the information. Having any sort of starting point is helpful. And--honestly, I'm used to doing for myself. Get warm and dry now, rest and elevate, which feels good anyways, after the journey... There's not much else to be done, is there?

Having spent most of my life in training--and, during that training, having undergone a lifetime's worth of hazing--I have to respectfully disagree, serrah. You can be too old for hazing.

What is trench foot? Is your foot in a hole?

[fairforce]

It's what comes after your foot has been in a lot of trenches, which are usually muddy and partly full of water, and then your foot gets wet in your boot and stays wet for a very, very long time. My legs aren't strong enough to drag a whole trench around.

The Recent Abomination sounds like it's before my time, sorry ta say. Still too new to offer advice, but if it helps any, ain't been much hazing except from ghosts in dreams and shit.

I've only heard a little about the dreams, but I've heard enough to know that I'm selfishly glad I wasn't here for all of that. Not a really good way to get acquainted with people I'm meant to be working with.

You were affected by the ghost hazing?

Do you know much of the man who succumbed to possession?

I have heard his name, and little else. There is rumor that he was connected to Riftwatch in some way--that he was a member of the company, that he was a hopeful recruit. And there is rumor of the opposite, that he came to Riftwatch only to destroy it--and rumor that it was all a terrible accident.

I would know as much as you know, if you are willing to tell it. [Oh, and--] What is your name, serrah? So I might address you.

Oh, I have a vital piece of advice for you. The Templar tower has heated water, so bear that in mind when selecting your lodgings.

It's not really in my nature. But I do want to fit in....

To find out what happened. The truth is important. Especially if knowing it might prevent further loss of life, or risk to others who might be vulnerable.

Sidony Venaras Rutyer, at your service. I would recommend that you make yourself familiar with the healers, just to be safe. It is advantageous to know who can save your life.

Thank you. I quite agree. I have minimal experience as a field medic, mostly tending whatever injuries might be sustained during training--and always with the intent that the wounded be taken quickly to a healer to be properly seen to.

So far I've had the good fortune to meet a few of Riftwatch's healers, and they seem capable.

A little bit of pain. But nothing black or notably frozen.
