A question of great importance: who is the most interesting person in Riftwatch?

I am composing a list, which I very easily could make alone. But that is not amusing. So, the winner of the list will of course receive a prize. An extra point will be awarded to a Rifter, quite obviously. Points deducted for, hm, [totally at random here,] let us say.... Wardens. I have nothing against them. Once I admired them! Then I had my sixth birthday, and I grew bored with them.

All suggestions will be considered.

Do you not agree, that there are certain qualities that are universally found to be interesting? A man with a scar upon his face, even if he is scorned for his rough appearance, or feared by small children, will provoke interest nonetheless. This is what I seek to identify. The irresistible interesting.

In fact, I know that you would not argue with these points, for you have identified a man who embodies this. Ser Lucien. Of course he will be included. He must be. Our hands are very nearly tied.

A comfort to hear.

But you know, I have heard of Anders who scar their faces on purpose. The ones in the mountains. To them a man without a scar might be more interesting.

He has two cheeks. Here: the scar. Here: baby's skin. So he would have to turn his head to one side and present it to them and say that he could not turn his neck. Then he would be doubly mysterious.

And cursed to dine with Anders. A shame.

Do you think so?

We have an Ander here, I think. He might be interesting.

Might is not a good recommendation for me to seek to learn more.

Are you not a scholar, Monsieur? An explorer? A man who delves into the dark unknown, risking finding nothing once again for the chance to find something that makes all of the nothing worth it?

Yes, obviously, and I do so love to risk everything, and behave scandalously, these are all well know. But at the cost of socializing with an Ander?

Have you had a bad experience with an Ander?

Several. I was acquainted with a set in Val Royeaux, who fancied themselves explorers. Insufferably boring. The way they carry on, you would think they were the only ones who were ever inconvenienced by sand.

Really? I would think that sand would be a way of life for them, not an inconvenience. Perhaps they were hiding something. Talking about sand so everyone would be so bored they would not pry further.

So you would think. And indeed, that is what we thought. So, then, we bothered to get to know them better, only to discover the truth was that they were extremely insufferable and boring beyond belief. They rejected the very things that would make them interesting. Their country, their unique experience and expertise--the sand itself!

From that point on, I have never been able to trust them.
