FORM: Written message posted to the board as well as a few copies distributed to various locations about Skyhold and in the valley camp by raven
SENDER: Morrigan
RECIPIENT: All of Skyhold
WHAT: Asking for elven and rifter research assistants
WHEN: Bloomingtide
WHERE: Skyhold
NOTES: See the related ooc post and open log starters if you'd like to thread out the research things, this is just for a proper place to announce it!

Skyhold, as several of you within these walls are no doubt aware, I joined the Inquisition some months hence to lend my assistance in researching arcane matters as I had done previously in the Imperial Court of Empress Celene, and that my speciality is ancient magic, thought lost, forbidden, much of it elven. Several of you recently accompanied me to the Hinterlands to retrieve an item of great value and importance to the work that might be done here that had fallen into enemy hands, and may I once again extend my gratitude to your aid in that matter.

That brings me to the matter at hand: given what we face, and the resources I have brought with me, it would ideally behoove those of us who do have knowledge of such things to work together that we might recognise where one might have overlooked something another would not. If there are those who wish to assist me, you may find me about Skyhold; I have a study for my work, or I will be close to the gardens or in my private rooms should have you need of me. Ideally I would seek elves of this world though I believe there are at least one or two from beyond who may have a unique perspective, though I will turn none away if your interests are truly sincere.

This brings me to the second matter, which is a joint venture I am undertaking with another though at present tis more of an interest than where my heart truly lies. We have both heard that dragons feature in the stories of the worlds of many of you from beyond the rift, as well as some things that could perhaps be mapped to our demons and that values ascribed to them. If you are willing to speak of them, I would gladly listen with an open mind that we might better understand one another, and I can promise that there will be no interrogations or being thrown in the cells for what you might say, and should you wish it, it shall remain strictly between yourself and I.

FORM: Sending crystal as well as notices in the Tavern + Great Hall.
SENDER: Thranduil
RECIPIENT: All the Inquisition!
WHAT: Thranduil issues a challenge.
WHEN: First of Bloomingtide, contest itself set on 8th Bloomingtide
WHERE: Skyhold.
NOTES: Possibly fixed contests, Thranduil trolling for allies. See notes!

[ thranduil sends his message later in the afternoon, his polite, deep voice precise and careful as he first greets, then settles down to the mear of the matter: ]

Good afternoon. I am Thranduil, a rifter, arrived last month. [ he pauses, to catch the attention of whomever might have their crystal nearby. ] I seek to return the hospitality shown to my son and I. I propose an archery contest, open to all residents of Skyhold. For the winner, fifty crowns. The next-best, twenty, and the third- ten.

[ where did he get the money? who knows shh. ]

Those interested should come to treeline in the valley on the eighth of Bloomingtide at noon.

[ he stops, as if he might be finished, but then: ]

And further, if anyone finds themselves able to beat my son, Legolas, I will offer them their choice of ring from my fingers. [ he sounds, already, terribly amused. ]

((ooc: SO this is mostly for thranduil and legolas to court allies. people are free to challenge him in an attempt to win a ring! but it is legolas shooting so. the money prizes will be rng'd.))

FORM: Crystal
SENDER: Dax
RECIPIENT: Anyone listening
WHAT: SCIENCE
WHEN: Now
WHERE: Skyhold/Wherever
NOTES: Threadjacking is cool.

Good morning. [ It's not morning. ] I'm trying to settle a bet. [ That part might be true. ] I need everyone to rate mages on a scale of one to ten.

[ Do you want to know why? Do you want to know what exactly they're being rated on—intelligence, utility, attractiveness? Do you want to know whether one is good and ten is bad or one is bad and ten is good? Do you want to know who he is or who allowed him to have a sending crystal?

Too bad. ]

And don't come in here telling me about how they're individuals and some are good and some are bad and some are whatever and you can't possibly give one number to all of them. That's not the bet. One to ten.

[ A pause. ]

And then do dwarves.
