Magic is dreadfully stigmatized here. And it's quite dangerous, as well. Mages spend their lives learning to control it. It's not like picking up a mop and broom.

Okay, sorry. What I meant is WHY don't they have spells for that sort of thing. Because it's too dangerous and mages have got better things to do, yeah?

Right. Then asking them to clean is rather like asking you to pick up a hammer and build a shelf, because surely engineers ought to be brilliant at that sort of thing. And also the hammer might turn you into a monster that kills the people around you.
