We could be heroes

FORM: Sending crystal
SENDER: Kas
RECIPIENT: Everyone
WHAT: A young man's view on battle
WHEN: Now
WHERE: Skyhold

It's been a little over a year since I got here. I guess... that makes it a little over a year since all this shit happened and the Herald died and everything went to shit.

I know we've been closing rifts and killing red templars and Vena-whatchamacallit, but when are we gonna go fight the cause of all this? That darkspawn guy. Corypheus.

Everything just seems to be betting worse, after all. What if something happens that cannot be reversed just because we're busy throwing balls and sucking up to nobles?

The working theory is that we need more for this fight. More army, more allies, more preparation, more intelligence. Considering reports of what happened at Haven, I think the theory may be right.

What happens if we rush into the fight far too soon, lose our army and resources, and weaken ourselves alone?

To hear him tell it, yes. The truth is that it was the combined effort of several groups to bring down the Archdemon.

I wish there was more of an effort to help people than throw balls, but many of the people with money who can feed the army, can feed the people who need it, are inherently looking out for their vanity and pride. Balls get thrown so they don't feel threatened, so they feel valuable and important at the cost of precious funds and time.

[He's not exactly a fan of nobility.]

He won't. But they're not thinking that far ahead. Some of them likely still don't even believe he exists. Those with money and power rarely want to share. It has to be a direct threat to their life before they take any sort of action whatsoever.

They're wrapped in delusion and their own inflated sense of self-worth. We have to wait a little longer yet. I wish we didn't.

Kas.

[His voice is very serious.]

Do you realize how much trouble you could invite on your head by asking me that, of all people?

But it wasn't the right thing to do. I don't know what the right thing was, but killing civilians isn't the way. ...Granted, there aren't going to be innocents in Corypheus' army, but talk like that could get me killed as well.

[He's quiet for several moments.]

There's no time of day when a Chantry is fully empty. I picked a time when it would be at its most empty, but... but there were people killed who had nothing to do with the slaughter of mages I was trying to prevent.

Thank you for the apology, Kas. I appreciate it. And I wish blowing something up would solve something here, but it won't.
