Good evening, everyone. My name is Josephine Montilyet and I am the Ambassador for the Inquisition. I've not had the pleasure of meeting as many of you as would like personally, so... I thought this might be an easier, more - ah - approachable way of getting to know each other better.

( She clears her throat as though to prevent herself from rambling. )

I must confess I do not know where to start. Perhaps a conversational ice-breaker will have to do. ( So much for not rambling. ) What do you miss most about your life before the Inquisition?

We had our scuffles, growing up, as all siblings do. But it did mean I was never alone. Even though I'm the eldest, I scarcely remember a time from my childhood when I was without one or the other. I do wish sometimes that they were more responsible, but... Perhaps it is something that comes with age.

( She can only dream. )

[Oh, Avery knows a thing or two about childhood scuffles as well but, uh, there's no need to get into that! Someone like the Ambassador would surely frown on that sort of thing.]

Well... if they're ever around Skyhold, you can always try sending them down to me for a while. Maybe a bit of kitchen duty would help age them.

I'll let you know if they ever come, although... I honestly doubt that they would. ( She sounds a bit wistful now. )

[Hey, wanna see a neat trick Avery learned when she was on the streets of Denerim instead of playing The Game?]

[It's called having no subtlety.]

( Fortunately, Josephine finds it refreshing when people are forthright. )

I suppose that I could, but I would not feel right if they left Antiva solely for my own sake.

["Refreshing" is not a word usually associated with Avery, but alright. She'll take it!]

Solely? There wouldn't be anything in it for them?

I don't believe so, no.

Not even seeing you?

I... ( She is silent for a moment as she struggles to define the emotion she is feeling. Some days, she wants nothing more to be with her family; those are the days where almost everything feels like a lost cause, and she should grasp what happiness she can while she is still able to. The rest of the time, however... the main reason she doesn't want her siblings to come is, perhaps, if they stay away, she can keep them safe. )

I appreciate the thought, but Mother would never let them. So I've not asked.

( Not that a simple matter such as permission would dissuade Yvette if she put her mind to it, but...better not to think of that, lest it come true. )

[She sounds less than convinced but doesn't push the issue. It's not like she knows anything about Josephine's family.]

I'm sure you'll see them again before too long anyway.

That is my hope as well.

[Hrm. That got a little sadder than intended, huh? ...how- how about a topic change?? Does that sound good to everyone?]

You know what else I miss?

Summer. I can almost remember what it's actually supposed to look like.

( Now, that is a statement she can whole heartedly agree with. )

As can I. It is truly difficult to believe that it is currently August.

I'm half convinced I should sign up for some scouting mission or something just for a few days without snow.

[Said sarcastically, of course.]

( Even though she knows Avery meant it sarcastically: )

You know, that isn't an awful idea...

[Surprised, it takes her a second to respond.]

You think?

I've certainly heard worse. And it would be good to get away from all this snow. And the cold. And the snow...

Have you thought about it?

I mean, I know you're busy, but if it's just for a few days, you've got people who can handle most of it, yeah? And anything they can't, they can just ask you about through these... crystal things.

[Avery still finds the sending crystals really weird and a little off-putting (and sounds it when she says the word), but she can't deny their usefulness.]

Ah, I'm certain I would be of little use on a scouting mission.

( Still, she sounds a little sad at that admission. )

I'm no scout either. The most I'd do is make sure they have a little better to eat than trail rations.

I'm sure they would appreciate the effort.

Well, maybe I'll teach you so you can go along on the next one.
