Inquisition, hello.

[ It's a friendly-enough voice, sort of husky without being unusually low, the common tongue spoken with the generic pronunciation favored by Circle tutors and just a hint of a muddled accent that's difficult to place beyond Northern. ]

My name is Nell, and I've only recently joined your ranks here in Kirkwall. I'd heard that the Inquisition's mages governed themselves through some sort of council, but I've yet to see hide or hair of it here. Was that only a rumor? I've heard quite a lot of rumors about the Inquisition's mages, it's not always easy to pick out the truth.

I suppose my real question is what is the status of mages here, exactly? And Templars, since I've see some about already? I'm eager to help the Inquisition in its fight, but I do like to know what I'm getting myself into.

Are you impressions controversial? I'm intrigued. [ she's also laughing a little, that bright edge of humor in her tone ] What sort of work do you do?

I think there are enough divergent opinions that anything other than perfect neutrality is controversial to someone. Maybe even that. I just like to look at someone when I'm talking to them if I have the option, mainly.

[He knows very well how to switch to private mode, after all, if it's only his reputation he's wary of.]

I'm with the research department, so right now it's a lot of reading other people's notes to catch up.

Fair enough, [ she says. still amused, but. seriously, that's fair. ] And you may be right, even the lack of an opinion may offend someone, on this subject.

That must be a great many notes, I think every mage I've spoken with so far has said they're involved in some manner of research.

Hazard of mages. So many of us feel comforted surrounded by old parchment.

Have they put you to work yet, or are you getting the lay of the land first?

[galvanising]

A little of both, I think. I've been assigned some shifts as sentry and assisting the--they're calling it the Undercroft? but it's just some researchers in one of the armory outbuildings. So no 'exciting missions' just yet.

My understanding is that's likely only a matter of time. Do you have any particular skills you're eager to apply?
