[That squeaking sound? That's the sound of a crate of nuglets. Eight nug babies to be precise. Over the top of it can be heard Aleron grousing under his breath: Maker and I thought the dresses were bad.]

It appears I have come into the possession of a crate of nugs, which I am to 'distribute as I see fit'?

[Quiet muttered grumbling as he tries reading the note again and sweet Andraste has Mama gone mad?]

Honestly, Mother, how am I to know what... 'prized pets with darling outfits'? Why?

There is attire of some sort for the nugs if that is of any interest. They'll be in the Gallows for anyone who wants them.

They're edible? They seem frightfully small for culinary use.

Nothing's too small for culinary use if you know how to cook it, serah. How big are they?

At present, not much larger than a weaned kitten.

[He has to think about how large kittens are for a moment.] Larger than quail or dormice and those both make a fine meal if you've got enough of them. Bones might be soft enough you could cook and serve 'em entire.

That's resourceful. I confess I'm not much of a culinarian.

[Translation: He's never had to really cook for himself and doesn't have much clue what's possible in that regard.]

[Lightly,] "Resourceful" is the order of the day if it's the only meat you can get your hands on. We made do often enough in the alienage.

Not that actual culinarians won't try them out for the sake of a little variety; they've got a dozen ways at least to dress a dormouse for a magister's table in Tevinter.

[That's a lot of information in there and Aleron's inquisitive nature flips on.]

No, praise the Maker--from Hasmal. Right across the Silent Plains. We get their refugees and a little culture along with it. [All right, a lot of culture, but no native son of Hasmal is about to admit how much Tevene influence there is to their fashion and food.]

It is a shame, though. I had hopes I'd found someone who might have a copy of the Chant of Light in Tevene.

The Maker knew He had a gem in Hasmal; that's why there's nowhere else like it. [Pride's unbecoming of a loyal son of the Chantry but it's not pride in himself so it's fine, really.]

Ahh--I'm sorry, serah, I didn't happen to rescue ours from the library before we left the Circle. Do you read Tevene, then?

Read? Yes though not so well as I should like. Speak, however, is another issue.

Though it would not have been for me. I've a friend learning to read and I thought attempting it in his first language might make the process easier for him.

They're fairly regular features in Dwarf cuisine, and they're not bad. You act like you've never had to eat squirrel before.

I... can't say that I have. Though I've seen fennec-on-a-stick and that was surprisingly tasty.

Except a great many of them cannot afford to be wasteful with their coffers depleted by the civil war. Dressing a pet is economic foolish unless there is some benefit in the appearance of excess.
