(002.) hello fade rift my old friend
FORM: crystal
SENDER: Herian Amsel
RECIPIENT: all the Inquisiton
WHAT: sup
WHEN: whatever today might wind up being in fair Thedas.
WHERE: Kirkwall
NOTES: Hello! So Herian's background has some dark themes,
and she has some pretty harsh attitudes about mages, the Dalish, and pretty much anything that takes her fancy. I've got an opt out post if there's anything you want me to avoid touching on.

I fear it had been overlong since last we spoke, Inquisition.
( Crisply spoken words, the touch of Starkhaven shaping each sound. )
For those not yet known to me: I am Herian Amsel, Knight Enchanter of the White Spire. For those better acquainted with me, I apologise for my abrupt absence. My orders bid me elsewhere.
( ... and that's all she has to say about that, smoothly moving on. )
I hope the seasons and the Free Marches have not treated you poorly. However, I am bound to lament our residence in any portion of them that is not Starkhaven.
( There is just the faintest touch of humour, maybe. Possibly. You probably imagined it. )
Maker willing, Kirkwall will treat you all with kindness.

[ Your words, not his. Though he's probably said said words aloud to Sam more than once. ]
Oh, spirit blades. I know what those are - Christine used one to help me with an experiment not long ago. I hadn't realized there was entire order based around the ability to use one.

The focus and dedication required to master the Spirit Blade is considerable, and to excel in the art of it is to commit not only to protecting those that you fight alongside in the very fray of it, but... to make draw on the Fade to craft something that must be handled with the utmost respect and responsibility. It is capable of great harm, in the same way that it is capable of great good.
To learn it without... purpose, and ideals to guide you, what to me speaks of a selfish, self-indulgent destructiveness; egotism untempered. A disregard for the responsibility that mages have - that we all have to craft our world to be something better than it is.

I suppose I just find it surprising that mages would voluntarily choose to work with Templars. I had thought that relationship was somewhat... strained.
[ To be honest, the whole Templar-Chantry or Not Chantry mess was still a bit of a headache for him, a tangled skein he wasn't sure he would ever make right of no matter how hard he tried. It was to much history and he had to focus on just his day to day. He isn't going to comment on her speech about purpose and responsibility. That is a fight he doesn't think he's going to win considering her tone. ]

[ Again he might argue that because from his point of view the Chantry has done little good. He has seen how it's helped a few - James surely relies on it and it brings him peace, which is well and good. As a whole, though, he distrusts it. ]
Uh-huh.
[ He also may not like the slightly lecturing tone he feels he's getting, but not starting fights is a good thing. ]
Well, I am glad you've made it safely back. Seems a lot of people are going off on dangerous missions these days. Always a cause for celebration when they return.
