Good evening, everyone. My name is Josephine Montilyet and I am the Ambassador for the Inquisition. I've not had the pleasure of meeting as many of you as would like personally, so... I thought this might be an easier, more - ah - approachable way of getting to know each other better.

( She clears her throat as though to prevent herself from rambling. )

I must confess I do not know where to start. Perhaps a conversational ice-breaker will have to do. ( So much for not rambling. ) What do you miss most about your life before the Inquisition?

I consider the lack to be a failure in itself. It is... probably for the best.

Perhaps not all politicians, but I feel there is little point in diplomacy if we cannot settle matters without coming to blows.

It's not the bears I'm worried about. ( And she laughs airy and cheery once more. )

But... the offer is appreciated. I will let you know if I decide to take you up on it.

Simply put, I believe it is fear. Fear of the unknown changing our way of life. ( She sighs. )

It is a pity.

You mean you've done this before?

( She won't be the first that Josephine's encountered, but the whole idea of it never ceases to fascinate her. )

[Surprised, it takes her a second to respond.]

You think?

I've certainly heard worse. And it would be good to get away from all this snow. And the cold. And the snow...

Have you thought about it?

I mean, I know you're busy, but if it's just for a few days, you've got people who can handle most of it, yeah? And anything they can't, they can just ask you about through these... crystal things.

[Avery still finds the sending crystals really weird and a little off-putting (and sounds it when she says the word), but she can't deny their usefulness.]

Ah, I'm certain I would be of little use on a scouting mission.

( Still, she sounds a little sad at that admission. )

I'm no scout either. The most I'd do is make sure they have a little better to eat than trail rations.

There's not much of one. I picked a name that was common in the Anderfels without realizing I should have chosen a Fereldan one with my accent.

If I was to stop and think I might come up with another, but I've a few too many things going on to stop and think.

Fear seems to have controlled so much of the history of Thedas. There could be untold wonder out there just waiting for a brave enough woman. [Because let's be honest, Araceli isn't going to ever trust a man to do a woman's job.]

There are many sailors like my father who have never spent a whole day or night on dry land. Always on their ships, always on the waves. That is the only life they have ever known.

Ohhh, I see. You're worried about adventuring with one of us rifters, is that it?

[There's a distinct teasing note in his voice, though, similar to hers from earlier on.]

Now, look, I might have occasionally gotten into a wee bit of trouble back home, but that was the Doctor's fault, not mine. You'd be perfectly safe with me.

Oh, no, I'm sure travelling with a rifter would be fascinating. This doctor friend of yours sounds like he got himself into a lot of trouble.

( Josephine folds her arms over her chest, looking up from her desk, where her crystal sets, to share balefully at Leliana. She should have expected this. )

I don't know what you mean.

Well, maybe I'll teach you so you can go along on the next one.

Teach me to cook?

( She sounds surprised, as though the idea has never occurred to her. Which it hasn't, because she's a noblewoman.

Still, it holds a certain appeal... )

[Uh, well, she was mostly joking before, but...]

I mean, if you're interested, I could give it a shot?

( She sighs. Nonetheless, it's a pretty noise. )

Honestly, I'm not sure I'd have the time.
