Hey, everyone, it's Cosima. I'm putting together some of the preliminary notes for everything that went down in the Arlathan Forest, and it seems like it would be a good idea to compile a master list of the stuff sacrificed there. I mean, obviously, given the nature of some of the sacrifices we might have to get approximate, but even so ... I think it's information worth preserving. You never know what's gonna end up useful, if nothing else.

If you don't trust the private setting on the crystals, you can come talk to me in the Research work room about it, I'll be here for a while.

[ When Bastien supposes that rifters are nothing more than dreams given bodies, he doesn't mean it in any insulting way; they're all dreams given bodies, aren't they? What a person remembers happening shapes them more than what actually did. His own childhood is as undocumented and unprovable and unwitnessed as any of theirs—for the most part—and exists now only in his head.

Context for the fact that his pause is pregnant with sympathy. The silence is a dam holding back a flood of thoughts about how a memory is the worst thing to have lost, because it's what they're all really made of—which would surely just make it worse.

At least it didn't, like, remotely shatter the microscope, I might have to go back and get actual revenge.

Oh, yeah. Piece of scientific equipment that came through a rift, miraculously intact. It lets you see things that are too small to see with your eyes alone. I've let a few people make sketches so if it ever breaks it's not impossible we could have a new one made, but they're pretty delicate. Require some really precise glasswork.
