CRYSTAL | MISS ME, DARLINGS?
FORM: sending crystals, during the truth event, you know what to do
SENDER: your favorite rogue, Astarion xoxo
RECIPIENT: as always, everyone
NOTES: if you drank Truth Soup, cough up your feelings; if you didn't drink the soup, make it worse for everyone, I dare you
[Someone's bored tonight. And it's been over a year since the last time he felt restlessness stirring him into needling action— particularly when he's noticed a couple of blurted-out confessions running high and harsh in the air. He could sleuth around. Sniff about for any signs of volatile tampering (or ask if this is just the next phase of whatever sleepless affliction's still nipping at everyone's collective heels)....
But this is so much more fun.
Anyway— ahem, and all that:]
Name one thing you like about someone else in Riftwatch. Anything. Anything at all.
Bonus points if you feel like getting weird with it.
[And don't think he's generous enough to actually start this game himself: that, you're all going to have to do on your own.
Or maybe just ask nicely.]

[wait. that's not the dismissive answer he wanted to give.
-fuck.]

It dulls out a second later, albeit warmly.]
For the record, it doesn't have to be a flooring gesture. The compliment, I mean.
Something small would still work. Like 'decent jaw structure' or....[hm] 'nice feet'.

[there's definitely not much funny about it; that sounds slightly sour, reflexive as it is in turn.]
Do not tell me that is what comes to mind in your case?
no subject
[Lighter, when he asks. Lighter too when he answers it.]
No.
I like your tenacity— though it does have a tendency to wane at times in ways that frustrate me to no end. Still, though. You're here.
[It's enough.]
Your eyes, too. Very pretty.
2/2
that sounds a lot like a garbage disposal.]Oh, this curse or spell or— whatever it is is going to kill me before sunrise at this rate.
I'm not built for kindness.

[that's a little quieter.]
You are more capable of softness than you think. I suspect you simply do not always know what to do with your claws retracted, still.
[--and then he huffs a breath.]
Creation, you aren't the only one this will kill.
no subject
....no, it doesn't put me at ease to hear.
[Well, he did try.]
Especially not when you're adding on things like how I don't know what to do with my claws retracted— which I very much don't, obviously.
Besides, being capable of something like that isn't a positive trait, you know.

[--a quiet groan follows, because he hates this. The best answer is, clearly, to keep his mouth shut, because of course silence isn't a lie, is it?
It doesn't really work.]
You can be an exceedingly frustrating person to love, you know-- [help. the rest of the message is muffled.] -but I have always appreciated that side of you, when you have shown it.

Words sharp as a knife and equally as capable of drawing blood]
I know.
[Both in the sense of Hades' moth-to-a-flame desire, aching and unrequited, and also in the sense that Astarion understands— for all Fenris endures— that he is a difficult creature to love. Brittle and bitter and mean and terrible at knowing how to temper his impulses.
This is uncomfortable. And awkward. And if he didn't care enough about their friendship, he'd have cut the line by now. Instead there's just a sort of huff, and the weary scrubbing of a palm across his face.]
Pick someone else. [To talk about, he means, but— yes. That too.]
Tell me what you think of Ellie.
