The only reason it became half so dire was my holding back from simply killing them. Death was never in the cards for me.

It is terribly gauche to murder someone at a party when you aren't on duty as an assassin. Why poke them? Because I could. I have spent all of my life living under the thumbs of such men. I no longer need to do so. What right do they have to look at me in such a way? They do not know me. They do not know the details of our association. It is not for them.

There is a very short list of people who's opinion I truly care for; the bulk of those that might disapprove? Are not on that list. There is someone on the top of that list that disapproves and that has yet to change my mind. We are harming no one. What does it matter?

If those Chevalier had their way, it might be a different story. For what I represent, your loved ones would like to see me out of the picture and that would have given them a good reason. They worry that it might harm you.
