[ Wizards, honestly. But his tone is light, breezy. ]
Anyway, I remember loads of conversations around how incompatible these magics are, between wizards and clerics, even if I could not tell you what went on in them, but Richard Dickerson is quite capable with his abilities in this world, if a basis for comparison would be useful to you.
[There is the muffled sound of him trying not to laugh. That does not sound like a real name at all but he's not going to ask - and he should be nice if it happens not to be fake.]
I know some spells have an overlap between cleric and wizard magic, and the way they work might be more similar considering how things are altered to fit this place. [A pause.] Can I ask about your magic?
[ A breath taken like he's about to speak, then changing track, sighing it out. ]
I don't know very much about it, I'm afraid. I discovered I had any not very long ago. I mean—
Well, one moment.
[ And: ding. He switches to private. Now that it occurs to him to do so. ]
Magic besides the kind I was born with. Prior to arriving here, I was a tiefling.
[ Waiting a beat, both to see if this is a familiar concept to the wizard on the other end of the line, along with. Well. How he might react. Hence the crystal firewall. ]
That's magic I've had all of my life, nearly. It's hardly anything, where I'm from. But not very long ago, before I came here, I discovered I had a different kind of magic. Sorcery, if my reading was right.
Did you happen to learn where or what you inherited it from before your arrival? [A beat, then:] Oh - that's probably personal. You don't have to answer if you don't want to, it's not even my place to ask. I just can't help be curious, if you feel inclined to talk about it.
I wouldn't have raised it if I was going to get stroppy for you asking. And the answer is I didn't, not really. The literature available's a bit sparse on the subject.
Oh - [there's a laugh, nervous but relieved, in return]
Well, I know usually dragons tend to be the most common source of a magical bloodline, but on occasion there are others. I think in some cases, gods are not out of the question but rarer than dragons. If there's any sort of eldritch or cosmic entities where you're from, that's also a possibility.
Whatever magic you've inherited may have some clues about it.

I don't know Fireball though, if it's any comfort. [hides his other fire spells behind his back.]

You can have as many Fireballs as you like, so long as you use them sensibly.

Does that mean all bets are off if it's not a Fireball then?

My magic's a bit rubbish, so.

private right back
Oh... I imagine magic inherited from infernal lineage is, um, perhaps a bit hard to explain here. If that's what you're meaning?

[ Well, that wasn't awful. Empathetic, even. ]
