[To say that Korrin's upset at the revelation is a vast understatement, and though her tone is even over the sending crystal, it's a forced calm. Anyone who knows her is likely well-aware of the depths of her fury, though there's been enough ranting over the crystal lately. So instead:]

Anyone else having the powerful urge to drink and vent, you're welcome to join me at the tavern. I'm buying. And just to be clear, I'm not challenging a damn thing. I just want a fucking drink, that's all.

[No ranting over the sending crystal, but she is claiming the venting corner, Merrick. Be prepared.]

We're trying to keep people safe; how the hell does letting an abomination just walk around factor into that?

Not to mention that...we're mages. You know what that means as well as I. We're accepted here better than elsewhere, but do you really think that acceptance will hold up once they realize the guy who helped kickstart a rebellion through mass-murder is here among us? Nevermind that we never asked him to speak or act on our behalf anyway; we're often lumped together regardless. If you're a mage, you have to support everything a mage does, right? What bullshit.

So yeah, I'm pissed. Pissed that people will overlook the fact that mages have been here since the beginning, giving their all just like everyone else, pissed that because of one selfish prick that might not even matter. We were supposed to be building something here, though whether or not it can survive this, your guess is as good as mine.

[Gently, he places his hand onto her wrist. These are all very reasonable points to be upset. Frankly, if Anders had been executed or some other variation of a punishment, Fate would not have necessarily disapproved.]

It'll survive. We don't really have much of a choice otherwise.

Though it does seem to me that the Inquisition has been making some... interesting choices as of late. Regardless, despite what it is, it means working harder to keep what's been made for the mages.

Funny thing. Anders had asked me once what I would do for the sake of mages.

[Korrin snorts sortly at mention of 'interesting choices', unable to disagree with that and entirely not thrilled about circumstances. That hand on her wrist gets a very faint smile out of her and she briefly frees her other hand from the tankard handle to touch his. The support is very appreciated, even as she's not in much of a mental state to show it.

She raises an eyebrow at that last comment, frowning anew.]

Really? Was he trying to shit-stir even then? Or what? What did you tell him?

Oh, I don't know about that. But he did seem very determined to have me interested in mage rights and politics. [Twisted Fate shakes his head.] I didn't know he was Anders at the time. I told him if I had my personal affairs in order, I'd help.

But that's about as likely as Corypheus sending us a fruit basket, so it was an empty assurance.

[Normally, she wouldn't think too much of such actions, but that it's Anders doing the nudging has her on guard. That frown returns and grows as she takes another sip.]

After what that abomination did, he's the last person to be giving advice to anyone. Not that I disagree with mage rights at all, but you do you, Fate. Just being here and contributing like you've been is a far better example than anything he's ever done. Besides, those council meetings can be a vortex of frustration. I wouldn't inflict that on anyone unwilling.

Ah, yes. My charm and wit has been a big contribution, hasn't it? [He chuckles.] I've never favored politics, and it's a bore. I respect that you do it, but it's terribly binding.

Besides, I doubt he meant the council. Probably just meant for me to care in general, which I like to do from a distance.

[Sigh.]

You're not wrong about the binding part, especially tonight. Believe me, there's a lot I would do right now, if I could get away with it. Usually, I can deal with that but...fuck politics. It's almost enough to send me out on a hunting trip, which you know like this would only end well.

[Not-sober, pissed off, susceptible to impulse, what could go wrong?]

And bullshit, you've contributed more than that. You had our backs in Antiva, Fate. That's not nothing.

And yet, the Council needs someone like you to keep them in line. Someone who gets to the point and cuts the bullshit, as it were.

[The compliment makes him smile softly.]

Thank you for that, Korrin. I tend to feel the contributions I make are more subtle, but I don't have a problem with that.

Hey, the Inquisition needs subtlety too. Maker knows I can't provide any. Every bit helps, and I'm not going to downplay that just because I don't see you smashing in skulls on every battlefield or whatever.

[She drains the rest of her tankard, signalling for more.]

...I should get on the Council's ass about condemning that abomination's actions before idiots around here think that silence means support. Maybe it's redundant, but I'd rather risk that than others getting hurt out of some braindead need for 'revenge'.
