Definitely was not me. Sort of things someone might want to sell or the sort of things someone might take if they were hurt?

It's possible it was both. If they were hurt - well. I'd rather hope people would know they could ask for help.

Think someone wants to sell it. Have discovered a lot of items just going missing. Or perhaps they injured themselves in a very embarrassing way.

I've seen a great deal of embarrassing wounds, I can assure you. I've also seen more of the inside of a man than anyone might imagine.

[A lewd chuckle.] Alright. Very interesting information. Think it's more about their embarrassment than yours though.

Cuts, bleeding, some infection.

Suppose we should look for someone who looks like they're injured then. Doesn't seem like an impossible task at all.

[Laughs lightly.] On the other hand, if they were stolen to sell I suggest checking at the markets in Lowtown. Found something once that way.

I certainly can't go there alone. [ She sniffs. ] Have you seen my silks? [ Is it a joke? Maybe. ]

No, I have not. But, I could go with you if you like. Or you could [makes a hmming noise] not wear your silks?

How cruel of you, to suggest I ever leave my rooms without the best of fashions. [ Now she is definitely joking; she'd given up on that the first time her dress got bloody. ] But if you wished to accompany me I would not refuse.

[ Fashion is still important, but less so when 1) she is married and 2) she is uninterested in pursing other romance when she has quite enough on her plate. ]

I don't disagree. But have you considered there might have been some reason prompting one of your colleagues to borrow?

If it was one of my colleagues they would have asked - and most people know that I am happy to treat them if they simply come to me. I certainly hope you're not trying to suggest that this theft is acceptable.

I'm saying we allow some room for dire circumstance. Surely if the items can be replaced, it's a forgivable offense.

Yes, but I'm afraid that is only half the point. This place was a rather safe space for me. Clearly that is no longer the case.

Truly, my dear, I hardly care about the reasons behind it. I'm rather frustrated with the notion that someone could simply waltz in and take whatever they like. What if they're unaware of the nature of what they're taking? What if they offer too much of one thing or another and kill someone? It's dangerous.

Then what would you propose? Apart from replacing what has been taken, because that is certainly your due. If you are concerned for this happening a second time, what would ease your mind?

Something to protect supplies, or at least some better system of keeping track of who comes and goes.
