[Some time later, a reply appears. It says, in exceptionally lovely handwriting:]
Dear Alexandrie,

Let your fears be assuaged, and say nothing more with respect to emergent situations which might delay you. Putting such things out into the world has, I think, a way of making them more likely and I for one have had quite enough of adventuring to rescue and be rescued as of late. Remind me when you return to tell you the harrowing story of the work Project Felandaris recently undertook. It was fascinatingly grim.

As to the list, Monsieur de Foncé supplied a truly bizarre variety of individuals. I was originally rather put out with certain selections, but in retrospect I believe the wide range to be advantage for the evening. I suppose it cannot be all be well dignified agents of the organization (as, candidly, there would be rather a shortage to choose from). You must say nothing of the thought to Monsiuer de Foncé, however, as I made my initial displeasure known and would prefer he not be under the impression that my opinion be at all changeable. I believe of the nominations that Madame de Cedoux will, unfortunately, by most unlikely to attend which is a shame as she is the very picture of elegance. I'm afraid the onus will be almost entirely on you, my dear Alexandrie, to represent grace and charm for the evening.

To that end - thank you once again for the offer of the estate. I'm sure I shall be perfectly fit with my wardrobe as it is, though I greatly appreciate the reference and your offer of dear Marceau's assistance.

I hope your work in Antiva goes most smoothly. If over the course of your journey you find yourself with the opportunity to describe in any detail the landscape, I would be delighted to read your account. Further, I have heard the leatherwork in that country to be of excellent quality and so if a pair of sturdy but fashionable gloves fit for working in the field happen to find their way to you, then I would be most appreciative if you might consider returning with them. I will set aside a little coin in anticipation should that happy accident come to pass.

Is there anything I might do on your behalf while you are away?

Warmest Regards,
Your Friend,
Miss Wysteria A. Poppell

Darling Alexandrie,

Your understanding and continued support with respect to the gentleman is most appreciated. Regardless of what qualifications or accomplishments he may possess, or indeed whatever intelligence he has (which even I will admit is considerable), they are no excuse to be so lacking in good manners or sense (sense and the aforementioned intelligence being, I would suggest, two radically different beasts).

As to the question of the landscape, I would welcome whichever rendition you believe may be most suitable for wherever you might be. If a smell of a place is the most important, you must of course write of it. If its foremost trait is the light, a reasonable person must of course request that you sketch it in your most talented hand.

My measurements are to follow. The color hardly concerns me at all for they are to be the most studious of work gloves, but my field jacket is dark green and so something which should not look too terrible with it in combination would be most welcome.

With Affection,
W.A.

Her glove measurements are written in the space below as requested.
