NOTES: Even more dream rumination
I have a question.
[It's announced with such suddenness and lacking the usual 'Hello Riftwatch, this is Madame de Foncé' preamble to imply that this question, whatever it is, has only just leapt to Wysteria's mind and she has been helpless, nay obligated, to submit it directly to the whole of the company.]
For a mage native to Thedas specifically, I suppose, though any scholarship on the subject may do. It regards the Fade, and a mage's connection to it. Or specifically a mage's connection to it and what you do or don't recall of it when you wake from your dreams. You—and to some extent the vast majority of us in Thedas, excepting dwarves—connect to the Fade while asleep. And while of course the Chant suggests that to walk there is a sort of dangerous sacrilege and was the cause of all sorts of dreadful things, including the birth of the blight and so on, I know also there have been accounts of members of the Inquisition if not this company physically traversing that place. So these stories aren't entirely allegorical or merely visions of the arcane, but grounded in a real sort of...arcane geography? Not like the Crossroads, but not dissimilar either.
Really, I suppose I'm asking as I wonder whether the blighted Gates discovered in Orlais and in the Crossroads might somehow have some marker or connecting point within the Fade itself from which we might observe them from another angle. So you see it's all a very legitimate line of questioning with respect to the war effort not simply my curiosity and so you ought to feel safe and secure in answering.
[Reassuring.]
—Oh and also, there is a weapon which de Foncé and I have devised which I believe is ready for volunteers to test and train with. So, er, please surrender your names for that as well. Anyone will do. In fact, I would prefer no one with Talent— No one with the ability to use magic, I mean.
That's all. Thank you kindly.
