SUBJECT: Asensio contract
PARTICIPANTS: Kostos & Nikos Averesch
CLASSIFICATION: Public, he's not sorry
DATE FILED: Bloomingtide 14
STATUS: Complete
SUMMARY: On the strength of their family connections, more than their personalities, obviously, the Averesch twins were sent to finalize an arrangement for an Antivan merchant to provide some of Riftwatch's basic supplies. He threw in a condition that they get his grandmother's necklace back, which they did, but it was damaged in the process, and nobody handled the ensuing conversation very well. To make sure a whole lot of Antivan doors weren't closed in their faces in the future, among other reasons, Kostos got fired from leading things.
REPORT:
[ In lieu of a report, Kostos delivers a letter, annotated: ]
Sers:
I do not know what formalitiesproceed precede the formation of a contract in the Marches, but in Antiva, even when dealing with spoiled princelings (We aren't.) they do not traditionally include damaging a man's irreplaceable family heirlooms while recovering them from well-armed fourth cousins or insulting him in front of his employees.
(I told him that he only could not shove his grandmother's necklace up his ass because he was too full of shit, or something along those lines but less polite. Surprised he left that out.)
If this is how you intend to conduct yourselves among friends, I will personally both assure and ensure you will find very few of them among seventeen of Antiva's twenty preeminent guilds, leaving you with access only to the shoemakers, innkeepers, and tanners. They are fools, and it might entertain me to watch you deal with one another.
I, however, am not a fool, and I am willing to put insult and injury aside for the sake of our arrangement, with no changes to the terms. I will wait a generous three weeks for your response, ideally containing either a sincere apology from your agents or a satisfying detailed description (Sadist.) of disciplinary action, before committing my stock elsewhere.
Respectfully,
Fulgencio Ansensio
— Nikos didn't do anything wrong.
— I am not apologizing to this bastard.
