NOTES: Research Questionnaire for people that have shiny things on/in their person.

This message is for anyone that has a shard in their hand, their chest, or otherwise on their person; Rifter or Thedosian or otherwise. If you are so fortunate or unfortunate depending upon your view of the shard as to have one I've questions for you in the interest of better understanding that which you have and what it means for your health, the world around you, and how likely it is you might attract demons in your sleep. At my current best estimate the odds are high in on last but I tend to err on assuming the worst and being pleasantly surprised when the world doesn't rain down fire, death, and the undead.

If you would rather speak in person and are in Emprise du Lion- I can be found in my healing tent. If not? I will return to Skyhold at the end of Guardian if you would prefer to wait to speak face to face or am available at all hours on the crystals.

Have you used it to close any rifts since you've arrived?

Can't say I've gotten the opportunity yet, heard about folks being able to though.

[ She takes a few more notes- N/A on dreams, N on closing rifts before extending a hand to him. ]

May I see the shard?

Sure.

[He extends it out for her to look at. Not much has changed though, still there, and still glowing as bright as ever.]

[ Gently, she takes his hand in hers, running her thumb over the glowing mark. It feels normal, no heat, no radiating power- nothing that a non-mage's awareness might grant.

There's a sound she cannot place, magic she cannot quite grasp that connects to it like a thread. The bit that slips through the Veil, she supposes. ]

Have you noticed any loss or change in sensation or grip strength?"

None that I've noticed.

[He gave a shake of his head while flexing his fingers slightly, opening and closing a fist in thought.]

Took me a while to get used to it, but I did.

Have you closed any rifts or been near veilfire since you've arrived? Anything that might cause it to react strongly.

[ It is a hand. And it is a shard, and where the two meet-

There should be an injury, flesh reacting as flesh does when something unwanted, unwelcome embeds itself within. But there is no infection, no tension. ]

I haven't closed anything, couldn't say I'd know how...I've been near the fire though. The only other time that it's reacted as violently is when I first got here through that...rift.

[He flexes his hand once more. It's annoying certainly, but he's had worse, felt worse both physically and mentally.

Of course that could change in the future, like a cancerous tumor. But for now it seems to be about as stable as the others.]

As if a hot piece of metal was pressed through the palm of my hand.

No, I suppose you wouldn't.

[He shook his head, not really knowing any other way to describe it.]

But I suppose there's far worse out there.
