This message is for anyone that has a shard in their hand, their chest, or otherwise on their person; Rifter or Thedosian or otherwise. If you are so fortunate or unfortunate depending upon your view of the shard as to have one I've questions for you in the interest of better understanding that which you have and what it means for your health, the world around you, and how likely it is you might attract demons in your sleep. At my current best estimate the odds are high in on last but I tend to err on assuming the worst and being pleasantly surprised when the world doesn't rain down fire, death, and the undead.
If you would rather speak in person and are in Emprise du Lion- I can be found in my healing tent. If not? I will return to Skyhold at the end of Guardian if you would prefer to wait to speak face to face or am available at all hours on the crystals.
action.
Orlesian, yes-
Ah. Elf. That is...she's aware, uncomfortably, of how they are often treated in Val Royeaux in a distant manner. At the Spire it was never quite so blatant, never quite so lethal. Sheltered, perhaps, would be the right word for them. Ignorant would be another. Adelaide takes a slow, deep breath to settle herself- Maker only knows what it looks like on the outside.
She pours the tea, offers it as a good hostess should. ]
How long have you had the shard?
action.
[ She doesn't reach out to take the tea, letting Adelaide put it down where she may; instead, Sabine occupies herself with unbuttoning a sleeve and pushing back the excess fabric of her cloak. Her hands are bare of any shining green light, and it takes until she can push fabric back and reveal her forearm--
There. A sliver of green, shining, on the back of her arm, closer to her wrist than her elbow. ]
I was fighting at a rift, over the river, and it struck me.
action
Lips pressed thin she makes her notes, frowning at the placement of the shard- that. That is unusual. That is not where most fall but if it might strike someone in the chest, why not the arm? That the rifters all have it in their hand is something of a surprise. ]
This is new. The placement- are you in much pain?
no subject
She hefts it up, smelling it before sipping it. ]
Non. It hurt, at first, when it marked. Now it bothers, a little, and only sometimes.
[ Her words are clipped, quick, as if to get through this part for some other thing on her mind. ]
no subject
[ So new a thing, so fresh a shard- she wishes to examine it in greater detail and were this girl from anywhere else- it might be possible.
But she is elven and Orlesian and that holds it's own weight. ]
no subject
[ The teacup comes down on the table with a clack, more a lack of manners than, you know, anger, even if she seems like the kind of person who might hold onto her anger like that. ]
Have you understood how to remove these marks yet?
no subject
Ah, no. Not safely or without removing the limb they are attached to. Not yet.
no subject
[ Okay, no, playing it a little calmer. She refuses to show fear, anymore. She tries again. ]
I do not wish to be a danger. Or in danger.
no subject
[ And possibly, one day, might send those that fell from them home. ]
They are all...very new. As best as I can tell they are not dangerous outside of those that have magic. You are no mage and less at risk for...whatever might come of them. I cannot say more until I learn more.
no subject
It struck like lightning, [ she says, eventually, rather than wait to be asked. ] There were Rifters and shardbearers closing it while others -- me among them -- fought demons. I was running to cover someone and then it happened, so deliberately, not like a random happening. It did not again, and was closed quickly.
[ She shrugs. ]
I would like to know of your study, as you study.
no subject
I mean to keep those involved as informed as possible. Whatever I learn is of use to more than myself.
