NOTES: World State Update; with thanks to our benevolent overlords, threads on this post count for April AC because March is fake.
We've just received word from the Orlesian front line.
As I'm sure we're all aware, barring the fall of the Val Chevin blockade, there has been little movement from the front over the winter. Overland, the Orlesians have been dug in around Val Royeaux, and the same can said of the enemy force's occupation in Val Chevin, evacuated Montfort, and beyond. That said, it appears [a little arch; Riftwatch has been informed of the fact, not consulted] that with Spring approaching, the bulk of the allied army - including the Orlesian force, the Inquisition, and the scores Divine Beatrix has managed to train over the winter - has begun to make their move.
They mean to retake Montfort then proceed to recapture Ghislain, with the aim being to divide the Tevinter-Ander army and interrupt supply lines between Perendale and Val Chevin. Unsurprsingly, Corypheus' forces have responded in kind and the fighting has presently come to a head southwest of Montfort.
[Dry as kindling:]
If anyone else has exciting new plans for the Spring they'd like to share - re-papering your parlor, or the deployment of the half legion of foot soldiers you've been keeping in your back pocket -, I'm sure we'd all be delighted to hear them.

( he sighs. )
I would like to speak with the Marquise and judge her character for myself, but I recognize it is unlikely. The training, though- I think it would be easy enough to observe that quietly, and the rations and weapons issued to the elves, and draw a conclusion from that. In a perfect world, where I had enough influence to pursue so obviously personal a concern.
private.
[ She's very fancy, these days. Conscious that Gwenaëlle is listening in, Sabine pauses and considers that, well, they clearly confer together, so she adds; ]
But I could make inquiries for you.
private.
If you would be so kind as to frame is as Thranduil Baudin seeking an audience rather than the Provost Baudin, I would be even more appreciative.
I expect nothing and will thus be very glad to have anything at all.

Perhaps I will now be Gwenaelle's 'very large and also wise elf'?

( but: )
Celene would promise a lot to keep her throne, and if she's running out of human recruits... ( a breath sucked against her teeth. ) I don't know anything about the Marquise, but the last round of promises the Empress made to elves, she was quick to promise and slow to defend the spirit of it.
private.
[ That, they can agree on. ]
But it is not a subject being bantered around in the royal courts, there has been no word of nobles being self-satisfied about elves being made to serve their purposes. I received this news from alienages. That marks it as Briala's doing, I am sure.
private.
( if briala has to work with celene to get anything done—well, at least it sounds like she is probably getting things done, out of it. )
That's more promising.
