Do we have anyone here skilled at handling accounts and in need of employment?

Assuming we find someone capable, they'd be paid the same as the rest of our crew.

[ that conversation we had about quartermasters? yeah, even accountants have to fight. everyone fights. ] If they take you on the ship. Stay in Kirkwall, maybe not, but most crew accountants are crew.
[ means: on the ship. and on the ship means fighting. ]

Well, that is good to know. But what gives you the impression I can't fight?

I'd imagine every ship must have someone tending to the manifest regardless of the type of goods they carry and their worth. [ don't ask john how it's done on actual pirate ships he sure wouldn't know ] If we can't account for our stores, we can't pay our men what they're due.

[There's implication, and then there's laying insinuation on like a Southern woman pours simple syrup into a pecan pie. Thor is in the latter category.]
Either something has happened to them, or they find honest accounting to be more difficult than what you formerly dealt in.

[ because they have to be getting low. the ventori ship wasn't a merchant ship, not much in the way of cargo, so not much to make back in what they could sell to pay for repairs. like flint had said when they first arrived here - a crew to pay and no hunting is going to cost them men eventually. ]
ā
[ a very generous description. ]
I'm hoping with someone managing our funds will save us some money while we decide how we're going to proceed here.

I wouldn't dream of encroaching on anyone's responsibilities to the Inquisition. This would be strictly extracurricular, of course.
[ maybe ]
It's even a service to the Inquisition, in a way. We're better able to be of service if we have a fair idea of our holdings, and we do so want to be of service.
