[ Kitty sounds faintly aggrieved. The reason: ]

So, there's this dog that started following me about. I guess it's mine now or - something. Anyway. Has anyone got ideas for a name?

[ Don't fight the dog, Lakshmi. It's probably not secretly something dreadful given how everyone else talked about them. She's fine, it's friendly, it listens to Kitty, that -

Her skin is utterly crawling with the thought.
]

Well, if she is that smart, you had best set up somewhere well. Bed, food, that sort of thing.

She is doing it because you don't know how to tell her no yet.

[ That, at least, makes her laugh. ]

Go to the kennels, find out what they feed them, how they keep them. See how they are kept. What we eat is seldom very good for animals, even when they want it so terribly.

[ NOW WHOSE A SUCKER FOR A CUTE FACE, KITTY. ]

That is only usually done with a guard or war dog when you must be careful about bringing them into your house. Or their purpose is to be outside at night. But you can give her the dog her own bed.

... I could... make something if you like.

Unless you want me to sew it with gold and fine patterns. Perhaps if you do pick Rao, I could little crowns around the edges -

[ It's teasing, she's quite sure she knows what Kitty's face will be. ]

As I thought. I figured a decent showing of cotton would do.

[ And maybe a little bit fancy, but she won't tell her. ]

Do tell me the name when you've picked it.

Three? Why that?

[ ??? Kitty what kind of name is Three??? ]
shri: (» I'll never be more)

[personal profile] shri 2018-08-21 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
... I suppose that is as good a name as any.

[ No, it isn't. Spare her. ]

Either way, I'll see you tomorrow then.

[ And the door is open around then, as it seems to be constantly these days. For once, not at her desk, but at a weaving loom - sat comfortably in her saree, all the light blue that she prefers. The spin in front of her broad in its washes of colours, and the spools of different coloured thread sat in front of her so she could unwind them and weave them through to lay in the pattern of birds. On pink, purple and gold, but their wings picked out in blue - peacocks apparently. The fabric was dense, as Paithani weaving often made so, shifting with the light to reflect the afternoon sun pouring in through the window.

Granted, she was about halfway through. The fabric pooling over her lap and spilling out over onto the floor. Content like that bent over her work.
