( A quiet clearing of the throat; one can naturally assume it is a very beautiful clearing of the throat, done by a very beautiful man. )
This matter of the phylacteries for rifters… it seems sensible. If they are such a valuable resource to the Inquisition, the closing of rifts, and so on, being able to find said resource if a rival power were to try and overpower them and abscond with them makes sense, I think. For their own safety, for our own safety. If Corypheus and his forces were, for example, to make an attack on a party closing a rift and kidnap those rifters for nefarious purposes, it would be better for all if we were able to find them as quickly as possible. The phylacteries are an established way of doing just this, no?
By all means, if you wish to see the world end, protest. Even if this is not your world, though, I think we can all agree that you are currently in it. It’s fate is not entirely irrelevant to you.
Private.
These people are easily given to it and, like all mortals, they are crippled by it. I wish them no harm but if they name me foe, if their fears press them to do something truly foolish, then they will learn.
Regardless of whether they heed our answers, worry not. I will not let their fear hurt others, nor will I permit them to take anything from us that is not given freely.
[Is that a threat because it sure sounds like one.]
I do not recognize your voice, have we met?
Private.
Much as I loathe the thought of leaving the innocents of this world defenseless, I've submitted to acting as war dog under leaders like this with a bargain for an assumed greater good before. Never again.
[ they can cry to him all they like about his submission to them making their lives supposedly safer, but iorveth will gladly let them crumble before handing them the noose already pulled tight around his neck. ]
We've not, but I believe I've seen a rather skilled impression of you. [ said with a laugh in his voice, remembering Gwen high out of her mind, strutting around in Thranduil's robe, doing impressions of him, and the rest of the ancient elves, and a few others of note. ] Tell me if I'm guessing right -
Galadriel?
Private.
[He could not know of her as a threat and criminal, then, but there are precious few people who would do an impression of her...and fewer still who could do one passably.
With no other information, she assumes it was Thranduil. Possibly while drunk. Which means this person is a friend of his.]
I am called Galadriel, yes.
And if you have seen an impression of me...I wonder if you are the Iorveth I am to meet?
Private.
[ There's humor in his voice, because it was a fun time, and continued to be once Thranduil came back and they managed to convince him to stop being a politician long enough to relax and get lit with them. Thankfully, it's passed by now, and despite the poor circumstances, Galadriel seems like a wise, kind soul, and he's happy to have met her now. ]
Ceádmil - Well met, Galadriel. [ force of habit, he still greets elves with his native tongue, even in a world where it doesn't exist. The last bit of her question surprises him somewhat. ]
I am Iorveth, yes, though I hadn't realized I was to meet you. By whose suggestion?
[ Just out of curiosity. He's assuming it was either Thranduil or Gwenaëlle, as those are the only two he's heard of her from, but didn't imagine either found it important enough to make a formal request of her to meet him. Huh. ]
Private.
I expect he thought I would take a liking to you. From what you have said, already, he was correct.
Mae Govannen, Iorveth, we should speak more about these phylacteries. In person would, perhaps, be wisest.
Private.
[ And he's done much on Iorveth's behalf, to his advantage and betterment, that he's grateful for. If it were anyone else, Iorveth might've started to suspect he's being bought off or manipulated towards some end, but they'd seemed to have made a connection. Something resonating between. It's worth putting faith into. ]
I'm pleased I've not yet disappointed, and I'd gladly meet with you. Where can I find you?
Private.
