Tell me... if you had to come up with a really good excuse to avoid attending a wedding, what would you say?

Is it a marriage for love? Or some horrible political match, in which the bride and groom hardly know each other, or worse, cannot stand one another?

It's... very much for love. [Which he is happy about, even if his voice sounds anything but happy. He sighs.] Which I know is a rare thing for a wedding in Orlais. It's usually some awful political arrangement. They're very fortunate.

Indeed, they are. And you should be happy to celebrate that fortune with them. All of us should be so lucky.

Is there some reason why you wish not to attend?

[Considering the past, and the fact that both have been nearly married off in other awful arrangements... yes, he can understand that all too well.]

Several reasons. It's all very complicated... but one of those reasons is that I did something terrible to them in the past, and I don't know if I can face them again. Not yet, anyway.

And yet the invitation was offered, all the same. Which means that either they do not know of this terrible thing, or they are prepared to forgive you. If they have not already done so.

They know about it, since it involved them. They've always been too quick to forgive... I'm not even sure if I deserve it.

But... I don't want to let them down. I feel as if I owe them.

That is not your decision, is it? It is theirs, and you must respect their choice.

Be grateful for the gift of their forgiveness. Support them in their happiness.

It's easier said than done, but... I may have to, for their sakes. I'm not sure I have any other choice.
