This is Warden Serra...or Inessa, as you prefer. Consider me inspired by Ciri; since the Inquisition is more settled in our new home, I plan to resume the classes I had offered in Skyhold. Namely, mabari combat training and alchemy in the form of potions and tonics. While I will eventually have a set schedule, I'll try to remain flexible for anyone who cannot join the offered times for whatever reason.

More relevantly for mages; I have been studying rift magic for some time and now feel confident enough to take on students. If you're interested, please inform me. I look forward to passing on what I have learned.

A final announcement, unrelated to classes; I know Kirkwall has been a drastic adjustment, for some more than others. I've had several express interest to me in making excursions outside city walls a regular event, so I extend my offer to anyone interested. Once a week, perhaps? It's nothing formal and there are no requirements...though an ability to tolerate dogs would be most helpful. [Insert a happy bark from nearby Garahel.] If pure idleness doesn't suit you and you need some way to justify it, there is always a need for local flora, for potions and requisitions. The assistance would be appreciated, I'm certain.

[He's joking - mostly. But the chance to get out of the city's a good enough one that even if he does have to bring anything he's willing to go.]

He won't say no, I can tell you that much. Though I will carry an abundance with me, in hopes that he will not be a pest.

Figured he wouldn't. Think I might see about bringing a thing or two anyway, just in case. Ah...I had another question, I've been meaning to ask, though. Do you object if folk sit in on the combat mabari classes? Just to observe, mind.

No, not at all. Please do so, if you like.

Are you considering a mabari for yourself, or just interested in seeing them in action?

Maybe a wee bit of both. I suppose that first one'd depend on a few things, though, wouldn't it?

Imprinting, you mean? It's certainly possible.

Aye, to start. Don't think the rest of it'd work if that didn't happen. But I'd also want to make sure of a few other things. I know mabari are a bit different than your average dog, but I'd want there to be room for them all the same. It'd not be right to expect them to be cramped in some tiny wee space because that's all that's available.

That's quite true; mabari grow to a significant size, and they appreciate having space.

[Garahel grunts in agreement as she pets him.]

He has not complained about our shared room in the Gallows. Are you attempting to find a place outside the Inquisition's foothold?

Maybe. I've not decided yet. I'd like to see about doing a few other things that might work better with more space, though. And, ah, not in the Gallows, no offense.

No offense taken. I haven't put in for residency outside yet, but that's more a matter of convenience than anything else.

Aye, I suppose it could be more convenient in some ways, but...och, I don't know. Think you might give it a go sometime, though?

It seems unlikely. I have no desire to live in an alienage again, and Kirkwall would not be kind to me anywhere else.

It's that bad here, then? I've heard some things, mind, but I wasn't sure how much to believe them.

There are similar tensions everywhere, though Kirkwall's history doesn't help. It ought to be better for a human, as long as you don't make that shard prominent. I don't know how they see rifters, but it's best to err on the side of caution.

So long as a rift doesn't open up in the middle of the street I think I've got that covered. Still don't think it's right that my being human means it'll be better, though.

I like the ideas of walks outside the city, and turning them into gathering trips.

[A beat, and then there's a bit of teasing in his voice.]

We could see how long Garahel can sit.

[Garahel's quick to respond with a soft whine and Inessa chuckles.]

When it's not required? Not long, I'm afraid. How can he sit still when there are so many things to sniff and people to play fetch with him? And a certain cat's company to enjoy, after all.

And here I thought he was a good boy.

[Yeah, he's going to tease the dog. It was nice when his life didn't involve constantly being surrounded by dogs, but he can deal. At least he has his cat.]

I suppose I can deal with a dog following along.

[More whining. You're breaking his heart, Anders. Inessa appeases him with some petting.]

I'll bring along plenty of distractions, so his pestering will be kept to a minimum. Though with so much to see, I suspect that won't be a pressing issue.

You're familiar with the area; I'll trust your sense on what paths are best sought or avoided.

I'm sure he'll be rather occupied, considering what I know of outside the walls.

Are we going toward the coast or the mountains? And would you prefer bandits or giant spiders? Granted, giant spiders are generally a guarantee everywhere in Kirkwall, but at least I've some idea of how to steer clear of the bandits.

I'm willing to bet that everyone is tired of giant spiders at this point, so bandit avoidance it is.

[There's the sound of rustling paper on her end.]

More of the flora listed on the requisitions is likely to be found in the mountains, though when we're low on spindleweed, the coast is a better option.

I thought you might say that. And I know it may not be entirely safe, so we may see action. That said, I am not looking for any trouble, and I hope you won't strain yourself. Garahel insists on your recovery, as well as I.

[Garahel perks up and barks. You have to be well to play with him, Kain.]

I won't try anything drastic, I promise. But I welcome any excuse to get out more. A change of scenery is important to me.

[And he knows Garahel will whine at him if he does anything too stupid, too.]

I appreciate that. I need more reasons to get out there... and I need to start doing more.

I'm fine... or close enough to it. I wouldn't mind if you'd bring me some more, though. If you don't mind.

I should have realized that. Of course. At least it's been helping, even if I'm sometimes still very restless.

Of course! It's not as difficult as one might think, I promise. And learning even one or two recipes can be invaluable.

Awesome. Yeah, I spend enough time in the healing tents, I get curious about how your supplies are made. It seems like it's a handy skill to have.

It is, very much so, and magic isn't necessary. Anyone can learn to do this.

I tend to give classes in the morning but if that doesn't work, I can be flexible.

Morning's fine. I mean, basically the other stuff I do is the work you're also going to be seeing, so you're only interrupting yourself if you look at it a certain way.

Besides, my roommate's a cook, she's up at stupid o'clock to start working on breakfast.

Do you know the location of the herb gardens? There are rooms on the mage's side which were once used for alchemy. I've decided to claim them for use until such time as I'm told they're needed for another project.
