It has not escaped my notice, despite all recent events, that I have been in Thedas for one year. [ he lets that sit for a moment. ] Thanks are in order; first to the Inquisition as a whole for their continued hospitality and second, to my own people, for their kindness. Ma serannas. I am pleased that there are elves in worlds other than Arda.

[ his tone switches as he gets into the meat of the announcement. ]

Several months ago, the Seeker and I came into possession of a key. With the events in Orlais as well as the move, we did not have a chance to use it until recently. I am seeking volunteers to travel west. The area, under Inquisition control, presents no dangers beyond local wildlife and the standard dangers of the desert, but I would advise that only those confident enough to handle themselves in combat come forward.

And, ah-- [ styled as an afterthought, but far too deliberate. ] I would like someone confident with written Elven.

That would be the irony, wouldn't it, if you'd found the key and there was no more lock?

Let me know when you're intending to travel and if I've not been asked elsewhere I'll join if you'll have me. I'm very familiar with the desert, along with what you've mentioned.

[ dryly: ] I would not deem it outside the realm of possibility. Nor a sudden collapse as soon as we arrive.

Within the next month. I am eager to see to it now that the matter of Orlais is settled and I have secured a room without suspicious stains on the floor. Removing the bars on the windows may yet be beyond me.

[Just as wry:] Come now. Surely the structure would be considerate enough to fall down after we're inside.

[Then his voice becomes a little more serious again after he takes a breath.]

Those stains are the results of years of abuse. Of lives lost because of what we were born to be. I understand not wanting a room to be stained. No one wants that. But they're a story to not be taken lightly.

[Another pause for a breath.]

When you've the date, contact me. I'll be able to tell you then if the Wardens have had need of me or if there's been an outbreak I've been called on. I'd give you better notice but... Spirit healer.

It takes a great deal of blood to mark treated wood. I am not unaware of what happened there. I am, perhaps, more tenderhearted than some of you, and less accustomed to walking the Fade when I sleep. Whatever lingered in that room may have worked their way into my dreams. But- abuses occurred here that did not leave marks. Who would be able to do the math to know which is worse.

[ kirkwall is- odd. he relishes the thinnest of the veil, but not what presses at it from the other side. ]

[There's a large portion of that that he doesn't quite follow. Abuse is abuse, whether it leaves marks on the room or not, and he's not sure about this man calling himself more tenderhearted than most. But Anders isn't really familiar with Thranduil, so he can't say either way. Best to leave it be.]
